Class 5A – Region 2 – SENIORS

The Dorman HS Cavaliers will try for a 5th Class 5A State Championship this coming season. This season will not be easy by know means. Class 5A – Region 2 is very solid from top to bottom this season. Read more in this article right here about the some of the seniors. 

Predictions: 

Dorman HS – The Cavaliers will be the team to beat here. Can the Cavaliers fight off the rest of the region ? 

Byrnes HS – The Rebels will be in for a fight every night with everyone in the region. 

Spartanburg HS – The Vikings have Drayton Watson Drayton Watson 5'11" | PG Spartanburg | 2021 State SC back to run the show. 

Wade Hampton HS (Greenville) – The Generals will rely on Judd Coan Judd Coan 6'6" | SF Wade Hampton | 2021 State SC to provide scoring this year. 

Riverside HS (Greer) – The Warriors finished (6-21) last season. 

Players to Watch in the Region: 

Jalen Breazeale Jalen Breazeale 5'10" | PG Dorman | 2021 State SC (2021) – Dorman HS (Prep Hoops Region Player of the Year)

Breazeale a quick point guard is back to lead the Cavaliers offense from the backcourt. Breazeale has improved on his perimeter shooting over the past year and really sees the floor so well. 

Earl Burgess Earl Burgess 6'7" | PF Dorman | 2021 State SC (2021) – Dorman HS (pictured on the front) 

Burgess will look to be more of a impact this season for the Cavaliers. Burgess has the ability at times to play inside-out on the floor. Burgess is quite mobile on the floor and shows to have a soft touch. 

Dessie Canty Dessie Canty 6'4" | SF Dorman | 2021 State SC (2021) – Dorman HS 

Canty has made the move over from Byrnes HS to the Cavaliers roster. Canty a athletic wing player will be just another person to put the ball in the hole for the Cavaliers. 

Drayton Watson Drayton Watson 5'11" | PG Spartanburg | 2021 State SC (2021) – Spartanburg HS 

Watson has been a leader from the Vikings backcourt for the past few seasons. Watson directs traffic and gets the ball in the paint for the Vikings. 

Judd Coan Judd Coan 6'6" | SF Wade Hampton | 2021 State SC (2021) – Wade Hampton HS (Greenville) 

Coan came on strong this summer playing on the Grassroots Circuit with Upward Stars Upstate. Coan isn’t afraid to pull-up well from behind the three point line for a shot. Coach will lead the Generals offense this season. 

Alexei Iturbe Alexei Iturbe 6'0" | SG Riverside | 2021 State SC (2021) – Riverside HS (Greer) 

Iturbe is a sharp shooter for the Warriors. Iturbe is looking to have a big season for the Warriors. 

Nick Thiele Nick Thiele 6'1" | SG Byrnes | 2021 State SC (2021) – Byrnes HS (Duncan) 

Thiele is a confident shooter with a great looking release. Thiele can knockdown shots on the perimeter and keep the defense honest. 

Taviyon Bruton Taviyon Bruton 6'4" | SF Byrnes | 2021 State SC (2021) – Byrnes HS (Duncan) 

Bruton was quite impressive when Prep Hoops saw him in the season opener. Bruton a high energy forward plays the game around the bucket with great activity. Bruton has a slender-sleek frame and a nose for the basketball.
