The event featured both boys and girls teams from all over Virginia and included some from Maryland and North Carolina as well. Here’s a look at part one of the many 2021 standouts in the event.
While it was a grassroots event, I used the player’s high school teams to help make things easier.
Sterling White Sterling White 5'11" | PG Great Bridge | 2021 State VA | 5’11” PG | Catholic 2021
White is one of the most under the radar lead guards in the Beach and he’s seeing a lot of interest from ODAC and smaller schools going into his senior year. A true floor general that can run the team and makes others better, White showed his leadership with a young team and helped them go 2-0 on the day. He showed improved confidence and killer instinct as a scorer while still setting the tone on both ends of the floor and showing his playmaking ability.
Geremy Robinson Geremy Robinson 6'2" | CG Oscar Smith | 2021 State VA | 6’2” CG | Oscar Smith 2021
Robinson is a new name in the 757 after transferring from Hawaii and should bring a provided punch to the already talented backcourt at Smith. A strong and skilled combo guard, Robinson is a guy who can play on or off the basketball and can really score it from multiple levels. He can flat out play as he can make shots from deep, he can attack closeouts and get in the lane at will and he’s a solid defender with his strength and instincts as well.
EJ Washington | 6’3” PF | Hermitage 2021
Washington is one of the most underrated guys from the Richmond area and is poised for a big senior season at Hermitage this year. He may be a little short for his position, but he’s a guy with good hands and feet and uses his big frame to create space in the paint to rebound and score around the rim. He’s a high motor and physical presence that’s surprisingly mobile and he’s very productive as well.
Bryce Shaw | 6’1” PG | Salem 2021
Shaw is a senior guard that not many know about but he showed in the two games that they won at the buzzer that he’s poised to have a breakout year for a Salem program that’s back on the rise after a few down years. Shaw is a high motor guard that leads by example as he brings it on both ends of the floor and makes winning plays whether it’s scoring, defending or making hustle plays. He’s a guy who can stick it from deep, attacks time and time again and defends well both on and off the ball.
Dana Woodley Dana Woodley 6'4" | SG John Marshall | 2021 State VA | 6’4” WG | Blue Magic 2021
Woodley continues to show that he’s one of the best available wings in the state of VA and my favorite part of his game has to be the way that he brings it in tight games when his team needs him to step up. Woodley is a high flying wing who can get downhill and finish above the rim in traffic, he can handle it in transition and he can stick it from deep when he’s left open. He’s developed nicely and his tools translate well moving forward.
Amarion Wilson Amarion Wilson 6'4" | PF Kecoughtan | 2021 State VA | 6’4” PF | Kecoughtan 2021
Wilson is a new name for me that will be recruited by many schools in state and has a chance to be a breakout guy at Kecoughtan this year. He’s an undersized four man but he’s very athletic and he’s an off ball guy who is good for catch and finishes, lobs and rebounds. He’s a rim runner and rim protector that uses his length and athleticism with his high motor to make energy plays and outplay guys that are bigger than him.
Quentin Livingston Quentin Livingston 6'4" | SF Kings Fork | 2021 State VA | 6’4” WF | King’s Fork 2021
Livingston is a guy who is very easy to like when you watch him play, as he can do a little bit of everything and he brings great energy to his team as well. He’s a guy with good size and ball skills as he can handle and make plays in transition, he’s long and athletic and uses that finish and rebound and he brings a toughness to his team as well. He’s one of the most under recruited guys in the state and he should be one of the most sought after available seniors.
