Continue ReadingOakland California, Soldier Town a real good group of top prospects showed up to showcase their talents at one of the few events in NorCal I’ve been able to attend. The Central Valley, Sacramento, as well as the Bay Area was well represented. Here’s my take on the top players that I was able to see at this event.
Cole Anderson Cole Anderson 6'3" | PG Clovis West | 2021 #183 Nation CA-N 6’4 Clovis West Shooting Guard 2021
Anderson showed up to get some work in. The UC Santa Barbara Commit played with EBO 2.0 out of Fresno CA. Anderson started a little slow, but it didn’t take long for him to get things going and show me why he’s a DI player. His ability to score from mid-range and the 3pt area regularly sets him apart. The confidence, pace, and skill set were all on display as he repeatedly knocked down shots.
Cameron Niles Cameron Niles 6'5" | SF Del Campo | 2021 State CA-N 6’6 Del Campo Guard/Wing 2021
Niles a UC Davis commit showed up to display his all around skills helping lead Team Arsenal to an exciting and competitive win over EBO. A game that featured plenty of next level talent. Niles is athletic and showed a great ability to take his defender off the dribble and convert amongst the big, long, and outstretched arms of the EBO 2.0 players. He has a nice mid-range jumper converting several with defenders up close. He’s a bit stronger and showed good foot speed, lateral movement defending on the perimeter.
Joseph Hunter 6’6 San Joaquin Memorial Guard 2022
Hunter was the best player in the gym. The quality of competition was good. The class of 2022 prospect was just head and shoulders above the rest. Hunter has improved his game across the board, he was already a versatile player with good handles, and vision to see over smaller opponents at the Pg spot, and defend multiple positions. Where I see the most growth in his game is on the offensive end. He has taken his skill set to another level. He can score at all three levels. Look out the sky’s the limit for Jojo.
AJ George 6’6 Hoover Wing 2021
George was another quality player on the EBO 2.0 team loaded with talent. George is a long athletic wing who excels in the open court game, he can finish in a variety of ways including dunks. He can attack from the wings and the baseline, he had a couple of dazzling finishes from the baseline with assists from Hunter. The lefty knocked down a couple of 3’s in the corner. He needs to bulk up a bit, nevertheless a quality next level prospect to keep an eye on.
Sione Lose Sione Lose 6'4" | SF Capital Christian | 2021 State CA-N 6’5 Capital Christian Guard/Wing 2021
I’ve seen Lose play multiple times now, he’s one of the most consistent performers in NorCal. Lose plays quality basketball at a high level regardless of the competition. He makes good decisions with the ball. He can play multiple positions on offense including the Pg if necessary, he defends multiple positions. The long and slender high IQ player has good flow, and tends to make things look easy, that’s his style, he’s just a smooth player that gets it done on both ends. Lose is a go to player when you need a bucket.
