The competition at this event was the highest it has been and was an impressive showcase of all of the talent in the great state of Texas. Be on the lookout for the rest of my content, as I thoroughly cover this event.
John Gavin Baker 2023 Hebron High School
John is a sniper from range who can get buckets at all three levels. He showed an ability to score at will off the dribble, dominating a lot in the midrange and from deep range. He has long arms and a good ability to finish around the rim. I would like to see him work to develop more as defensive weapon and improve his foot speed and agility. He has all the tools to be an effective combo guard at the next level if he gets stronger on the defensive end of the floor.
Paul Cornell 2023 6’2 Sachse High School
Paul has a nonstop motor he plays intense on ball defense and loves to go after every loose ball. He has that energy that all college coaches covet. He is an intelligent player who knows how to get to his comfortable spots in the midrange and behind the arc. He also created very well for his new teammates and showed an ability to be a maestro. He showed a creative ability to score off the bounce. I would like to see him work on his ability to blow by defenders and get to the rim. He has all the tools to be an effective guard at the next level with consistent work.
Keegan Rowell 2023 Guard
Keegan is a reliable combo guard who can shoot the ball at a good clip from deep range. I was impressed with his consistency and ability to knock down threes off the catch. He is a sniper from the corners and the wings, his team was very thankful for him bailing out their offense. He even showed an impressive sidestep dribble to get to the midrange. He is able to put the ball on the floor and get to the rack especially on the fast break. I would like to see him get more confident with the basketball and continue to get stronger and more physical, especially when he drives.
Josiah Carrasco 2023 6’0 Boswell High School
Josiah is an intelligent guard who can set up his teammates well. He is a patient finisher underneath the basket and seemed fearless in the face of all older competition. I was impressed with his ability to finish on the fast break, he has good body control and can avoid contact with nice up and under. I would like to see him work on his ability to shoot off the dribble behind the arc and continue to work on his playmaking and ball handling.
