Continue reading for a breakdown of Keegan’s skills and abilities on both ends of the floor ahead of the 2020-21 season.
Defense: Keegan is a feisty guard and is a solid defender. He plays with lots of energy and has a never ending motor. He makes great reads and loves to play the passing lanes in order to produce steals and start fast breaks. He always has his hands in the passing lanes and he is able to read the offensive player’s eyes to see where they will try to pass. Keegan has great lateral quickness and he always keeps the opposing guard in front. Against bigs, he plays hard and works to fight around or at least force the post player into a difficult shot. He is a strong player and he uses that to his advantage when trying to force his opponents into difficult positions. As a rebounder, Croteau likes to find ways to grab rebounds that bounce his way.
Offense: Croteau has a really solid offensive feel for the game. He plays with lots of patience and has the ability to facilitate or score at all three levels. He loves to pass the ball to his teammates and always finds a way to thread the needle for a pocket pass in transition. He plays with his head up and is constantly scanning for passing lanes and gaps in the defense that he can exploit. If he is not passing, Keegan does a great job of shooting open shots that he is confident he can make. He finishes well at the rim with both hands and he likes to drive hard to the basket. From outside, Keegan only shoots open shots and he also has a great mid-range jump shot with lots of touch and finesse.
Overall: Altogether, Keegan is a really solid point guard for the Bishop Kelly Knights. On defense, Croteau plays hard and makes great reads. On offense, he is an excellent passer that plays the game with confidence. He would make a great guard at the next level.
