While plenty will remain on the board even after the early signing period comes and goes, there should be a respectable amount of decisions made within the next week throughout the country.
Let’s take a look at the action over the last week,
COMMITMENTS
2021 Frederick Douglass guard Mike Woods Mike Woods 6'4" | SF Frederick Douglass | 2021 State MD committed to Navy. Woods’ story was pretty impressive. He came into the summer with two Division II offers from Bowie State and Livingstone. After taking over the I-95 League and leading his team to the championship and securing MVP, Woods’ recruitment experienced a significant uptick as Army, Canisius and his most recent offer from Navy, came rolling in. At 6-foot-4, Woods is a solid combo guard who can score at an efficient clip from three, mid-range and around the rim.
We’re dipping into Virginia territory with this one, but 2021 Freeman/Team Richmond wing Caleb Kenney Caleb Kenney 6'6" | PF Douglas Freeman | 2021 State VA announced his commitment to Holy Cross. Kenney was another prospect who took advantage of the I-95 League platform and impressed all who watched with his athleticism, competitiveness and well-balanced approach on both ends. There’s no doubt in my mind when we look at Kenney 2-to-3 years from now, he’ll be in the middle of a productive college career.
OFFERS
2022 Bishop McNamara/New World forward Favour Aire Favour Aire 6'10" | C Bishop McNamara | 2022 State #86 Nation MD received an offer from USC. Now holding 12 offers in total, the active 6-foot-10 big is starting to gain the attention of the teams in the PAC-12. Aire fits the mold that USC likes in their forwards as he runs the floor extremely hard, finishes hard above the rim and is a willing defender and shot-blocker.
2022 Bishop Walsh/Team Thrill forward Mady Traore picked up an offer from FIU. The 6-foot-10 unicorn has been the talk of the country and has witnessed his recruitment blow up within the last three weeks as he sports 13 total offers with most coming from power five conference schools.
2023 Maret wing Bryson Wilson Bryson Wilson 6'5" | SF St Stephen’s And St Agnes | 2023 State VA received his first offer to date from Hampton. It surprises me that it took this long for Wilson to get his first offer considering the athleticism and upside he presents at 6-foot-5. Wilson is dynamic in every sense of the word and should see high majors come into play before it’s all said and done.
