Georgetown Bulldog Shootout

Prep Hoops took in some weekend games here in the Palmetto State. The basketball season has started here in the Palmetto State. Covid-19 has taken a toll on high school sports throughout the country. Prep Hoops took in the opening night action from the Bulldog Shootout in Georgetown. 

Quez Lewis Quez Lewis 5'8" | PG Johnsonville | 2021 State SC (2021) – Johnsonville HS (pictured on the front) 

Lewis came out on fire in the opening round game for the Golden Flashes. Lewis a point guard erupted with 27 points in a tough opening loss to the host Georgetown HS Bulldogs. Lewis scored several baskets in transition and was able to find his teammates for open looks.

Mike Herrin Mike Herrin 6'4" | CG Socastee | 2021 State SC (2021) – Socastee HS

Herrin was saddled with 3 fouls and just 3 points in the first half in a opening round game vs Waccamaw. Herrin erupted for 20 points in the second to half to finish with 23 points. Herrin a left-handed score several of his points while attacking the rack and getting to the foul line. 

Tyvon Richardson Tyvon Richardson 6'3" | SF Georgetown | 2022 State SC (2022) – Georgetown HS

Richardson a very slender-sleek forward finished the opening night with 13 points. Richardson was able to stalk around the baseline at times tonight and convert on some short jumpers. 

Shyheim Smalls Shyheim Smalls 5'11" | SG Waccamaw | 2022 State SC (2022) – Waccamaw HS (Pawleys Island)

Smalls a off guard came up big time after time today for the Warriors with his play. Smalls had 23 points unofficially in a win over Socastee HS in the opening round win. Smalls connected on several floaters and three pointers today. 

Trey McManus Trey McManus 6'0" | CG Spartanburg Christian | 2022 State SC (2022) – Socastee HS 

McManus was playing in his first game for the Braves since transferring in from Boiling Springs HS in the Upstate. McManus didn’t score in the first half and finished with 13 points in the overtime win over Waccamaw HS. McManus was able to knockdown some perimeter shots in the 2nd half. 

Some New Names to add to the Database 

Justin Alquiza Justin Alquiza 6'2" | CG Socastee | 2022 State SC (2022) – Socastee HS 

A new name here in the Palmetto State. Alquiza previously played up in the Hoop State around the Charlotte area. Alquiza will be a nice addition to the Braves backcourt this season. 

Trae Grant Trae Grant 6'2" | SG Socastee | 2023 State SC (2023) – Socastee HS 

Grant showed to have a quick shot release from behind the arc. Grant plays the game with a really good motor. 

Travis Wilson Travis Wilson 6'2" | PF Johnsonville | 2024 State SC (2024) – Johnsonville HS 

Wilson recorded 63 tackles on the football field this past season for the Golden Flashes. Wilson is a very vocal post player who moves really well around the court. Wilson needs to develop some post moves down the road but really plays the game quite aggressive.
