Julian Cheese Julian Cheese 6'5" | PF Lake Minneola | 2021 State FL | 6-4 | Lake Minneola
Cheese was a force on both ends of the floor throughout the few games that I caught of Lake Minneola. The senior can score at all three levels. Around the rim, he’s a tenacious rebounder and does a great job at getting putbacks around the rim. In-transition, he’s great at finding his spots in the midrange and can drain the 14-foot jumper, or step our for deep trey. If you’re looking to throw a lob, Cheese will flush it.
Gerard O’Keefe | 5-11 | IMG Junior National
This freshman guard was a staple for his squad at the FABC Camp, doing a great job of absorbing contact on the way to the cup, while knowing when to dish it off for quick assists. From deep, he was nearly automatic, hitting from all over the arc. Defensively, O’Keefe knows how to force turnovers when ball-handlers get into the midrange area. He has some scrappy defense that’s tough for his opponents to work around.
Justus Wilburn Justus Wilburn 6'3" | CG Gainesville | 2021 State FL | 6-3 | Gainesville H.S.
The senior wing is going to be extremely key for the ‘Canes this season, and he showed how through his ability to affect the game on both ends of the floor. Justus shares the rock well, and has the frame to absorb contact when driving through the lane. Wilburn is a solid rebound on both ends, and made it known that his defensive IQ shouldn’t be taken for granted. He forced some steals throughout the day, and immediately turned them into fast break points.
Griffin Barasa Griffin Barasa 6'1" | CG Clearwater Calvary Christian | 2021 State FL | 6-0 | Calvary Christian
I absolutely loved the aggression this senior guard played with throughout the day. Barasa made a habit of playing bigger than his height, suggests. He took it to the rack and forced three-point plays. He cut off passes while in defensive transition, creating more scoring opportunities for his team. There just wasn’t a play where he lacked in effort and energy.
Almando Cyrius Almando Cyrius 6'4" | SF Vero Beach | 2021 State FL | 6-4 | Vero Beach
Cyrius is another guy who will undoubtedly be a scoring leader for his squad based on what I saw at the camp. He’s capable of ripping off 8-10 straight points in spurts with how automatic his midrange game is, as well as his scoring within five feet of the basket. He has some length, which poses a problem for offenses looking to swing the ball around the court—he can jump those passing gaps.
