The Prep Hoops Top 250 Expo was held at MSA Fieldhouse in Grand Rapids yesterday. This was an outstanding event and the talent in the building was off of the charts. I will be evaluating every player that was from the Metro Detroit area through myself watching games and also looking at games a second time on BallerTV. Everyone showed up big time and the sky is the limit for you.
Davin Walker Davin Walker 6'4" | CG Detroit King | 2021 State MI (2021, 6-2, Detroit King)
Walker started off the day looking a step behind. But has the day went he picked up the pace. He is a do it all combo guard who is relentless in attacking the rim and playing hard nose defense. Today he focused on moving the ball to the open teammate. He played very unselfish today.
Daion Sheffield Daion Sheffield 6'4" | CG Taylor | 2021 State MI (2021, 6-2, Taylor)
Sheffield is highly skilled who can jump out the gym. He is very aggressive attacking the rim. I also liked how he battled for rebounds and he got several 3. I feel one day is going to be a defensive stopper. He has all the tools.
JonMarcus Roland JonMarcus Roland 6'2" | CG UD Jesuit | 2021 State MI (2021, 6-2, UD Jesuit)
Roland is a versatile basketball player who is skilled on the perimeter and in the paint. He was a combo guard at the expo and he was very comfortable going back and forth between the 1 and 2. He rebounded very well. He also had a few baskets on cuts to the rim. He is an excellent decision maker.
Gio Lutfy (2024, 6-2, Lutheran North)
This 2024 prospect is going to be a joy to watch the next 4 years. He signed up for the Expo but couldn’t attend due to personal reasons but I saw him play 4 games last week. He has an excellent basketball IQ. He is a good shooter and dribbler and isn’t afraid to go to the basket. He needs to get stronger but that will come as he matures
Mohamad Farahani (2024 6-2, Bloomfield Hills)
I like the length on Farahani. He uses it well to defend and close out. He played with poise. He has a good looking shot 3 point range. He sees the floor very well. He also will help out rebounding and I saw him get rebounds in traffic. He is going to have a nice career.
Phil Ragan lll (2022, 6-2, UD Jesuit)
Ragan lll showed he is a floor general. He knows how to run the show and he makes everyone better. He showed he can create space and shoot his jumper. He made mid-range shots and 3’s. He showed no fear going to the basket. College coaches take notice!!!
Ralph Bland Ralph Bland 6'3" | SG Detroit Edison | 2021 State MI (2021, 6-3, Detroit Edison)
Bland played well on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. He rebounded, he pushed, he found the open man, he drove to the basket and finished, and he was hitting his free throws. Defensively he played good help defense, he switched, he communicated, and he would impend the progress of the cutter. He knows how to play this game. Colleges take notice.
