Continue ReadingThe senior class in South Florida took a bit of a hit when Wesley Cardet Jr Wesley Cardet Jr 6'5" | SG West Oaks | 2021 State #117 Nation FL . left Northeast to go to West Oaks Academy. The 6-foot-5 combo guard was the top rated player in this region before heading north. The Northeast Hurricanes were projected to be one of the best teams in South Florida with Cardet Jr. and a trio of teammates that followed him to the Orlando school.
With Cardet Jr. gone, 6-foot-9 power forward Josh Minott Josh Minott 6'9" | PF St. Andrew's | 2021 State #30 Nation FL moves into the top spot. Minott has committed to Memphis to play for Penny Hardaway and is a postionless player at this level. Boca-St. Andrew’s will look to repeat as state champions with Minott at the helm.
While not as top heavy as the junior class, the 2021 group still has sporadic amounts of talent. Let’s take a look at some players in this piece breakdown.
Taderrius Davis Taderrius Davis 6'7" | PF Miami | 2021 State FL – Miami High
Of all the classes I have examined, Davis feels one of the more undervalued. The 6-foot-6 forward/center averaged 8.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 2.7 steals and 1.8 steals per game for the Stingarees. Those numbers for Davis make him feel like a Swiss-army knife type of player. Meaning, Davis has the versatility to make plays anywhere on the floor. Davis scored in double-figures 13 times and grabbed ten or more boards 13 times. In addition, Davis recorded three or more blocks 12 times and three steals eight times. If that wasn’t enough, the frontcourt big dished out four or more assists in eight games. Furthermore, all of those numbers reflect 2021 Justin Neely Justin Neely 6'5" | CG West Oaks | 2021 State FL being in the lineup. While talented, Neely has since transferred to West Oaks Academy. Davis now has the opportunity and responsibility to carry the reigns for the ball club.
Tyshaun Daniels Tyshaun Daniels 6'7" | PF McArthur | 2021 State FL – McArthur
Over in Hollywood, Daniels is an athletic swingman for head coach Warren Gale. The 6-foot-7 wing averaged 10.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 1.2 blocks for the Mustangs. With losses to graduation, Daniels has a golden opportunity to carve out into a county star. Look out for him to finish at the tin when the Mustangs get in transition. Moreover, defenders have to be cognizant of his blow-by ability from the free throw line extended out to the 3-point mark. Daniels is the type of prospect you pinpoint when looking for that combination of size and athleticism.
Evan Stinson Evan Stinson 6'3" | SF Suncoast | 2021 State FL – Suncoast
Stinson has big shoes to fill with the loss of 2020 Samuel Rolle Iv to graduation. The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 10.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game as a junior for the Chargers. Against North Marion, Stinson tied his season-high with 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Moreover, his big guard frame allows him to be a factor on the glass. Stinson record six or more rebounds in 11 games. You have to like a player who contributes out of his normal duties.
David Pazo David Pazo 6'3" | SG Coral Park | 2021 State FL – Palmetto
Miami Palmetto got a great addition with David Pazo David Pazo 6'3" | SG Coral Park | 2021 State FL moving over from Coral Park. The 6-foot-3 Pazo will look to make a good impression after averaging 9.7 points and 3.3 rebounds as a junior with the Rams. Against TERRA Environmental, Pazo scored a season-high 25 points on 10-of-11 from the field. In addition, Pazo hit five of six 3-pointers in that contest. Moreover, Pazo connected on 43% of his outside attempts on the season. It is clear that this kid can shoot and someone worthy of your radar.
Matthew Robinson Matthew Robinson 6'3" | CG Western | 2021 State FL – Western
Robinson is an intriguing prospect due to his 6-foot-3 size. That framework makes him a logical plug at either guard spots. The Wildcats won 18 games and reached the Class 7A regional final with his assistance. In limited numbers, Robinson averaged 14.4 points per game. Against Pompano Beach, Robinson scored 18 points and canned four 3-pointers.
Christopher George Christopher George 6'8" | PF Royal Palm Beach | 2021 State FL – Royal Palm Beach
I will roll the dice on a 6-foot-8 kid any day! The Wildcat power forward averaged 12.5 points and 10.8 rebounds as a junior. Moreover, George recorded ten or more boards in 14 games. Against Inlet Grove, George powered his way with 13 offensive rebounds off his 19 board total. The Wildcat senior was rare to not reach double-figures last season as he did so in 18 of his 22 contests. George is a player worth watching.
George Hyland George Hyland 6'2" | PG American Heritage | 2021 State FL – St. Andrew’s
Hyland is not a player you want to sleep on with his impressive shooting ability. The 6-foot-2 point guard hit 80 3-pointers last season for American Heritage. Moreover, Hyland hit two or more trifectas in 21 of 23 contests. Those kind of buckets can be game-changers when Hyland is on. He has since transferred to St. Andrew’s.
