These players had a great first day of competition and should only get better from here. Keep an eye out for the rest of my coverage from this event, and for these athletes to have a dominant upcoming season.
Sam Bradford Sam Bradford 6'6" | SF Goose Creek Memorial | 2022 State TX 6’5 2022 (Houston TTG) Goose Creek Memorial High School
Sam is built like an NFL linebacker and has the playstyle to match. He is incredibly dominant down low using his size to bump defenders far off the ball. He is a smart player who recognizes how much attention his game brings to the floor and makes the right reads in the full court and half-court. He is great at getting downhill from turnovers and is an emphatic finisher at the rim.
CJ Nunn 6’3 2022 (Scholar Athletes 2022, 17U) Kingwood High School
CJ is an athletic wing who thrives drawing contact down low. I would like to see more aggression when a shot goes up, and more willing to put a body on someone and box out. He has such a large and strong frame and all the potential to be an elite rebounder and defender, even if he is considered undersized. He already has the foot speed and length to guard elite guards and wings, he needs to continue to add strength to his frame to be an effective defender at the next level.
Micah Dees 6’1 2022 (Scholar Athletes 2022, 17U) Kingwood High School
Micah is a quick combo guard with a flame thrower like jumper, if you give him space, he will make you pay. He is great at getting to his spaces with the basketball and is intelligent while moving without the basketball. He showed intelligence at getting to an open midrange look if a defender came out too hard on him.
Chancellor White Chancellor White 6'6" | SG Richmond Foster | 2022 State TX 6’6 2022 (Houston Defenders 16UA, 17U) Foster High School
Chancellor is an incredible specimen with long arms that allow him to affect the game in many ways. He has the foot speed and agility to guard positions one through four with ease. He is great with the ball in his hands and gets to the rim with ease.
Daniel Munoz 6’1 2022 (The Ville) Brackenridge High School
Daniel is a sharpshooting combo guard who is deadly if he gets an opportunity to square up and set his feet. He is great at catching atop the key as the trailer man and knocking down open opportunities for himself. I would like to see continued development at putting the ball on the floor and getting to the rim. He has all the tools to be an aggressive scoring option for his team. He needs continued work on his footwork and quickness on the defensive end to be able to make at it the next level.
Kevin Destin Kevin Destin 6'4" | CG Houston Austin | 2022 State TX 6’5 2022 (Thrive Elite) Austin High School
Kevin is a lanky wing with good guard skills and the ability to create for teammates. He loves to drive into the paint and draw a second defender and kick it out for open looks. He has good natural instincts as a big, but he will be more effective as an oversized wing. He is quick when exploding out of a triple threat and has all the tools to be dominant on the offensive end of the floor. I would like to see him work on speeding up his jumper and increasing his confidence from behind the arc. I would also like to see continued development as a finisher in the full court as well as understanding how to better fill holes within the offense.
Quincy Steamer 6’5 2022 (Thrive Elite) Sterling High School
Quincy is an impressively strong forward who has no trouble moving his defenders and clearing the boards. He has good foot speed for his size, but his true defensive ability comes out when sliding over to cut off driving lanes, boxing out opponents, and sealing off his defender to create driving lanes for his teammates. I would like to see continued work on his foot speed, because if he can get the speed to keep up with guards and wings he can have an effective career at the next level.
