With that being said, there have still been a number of events or leagues launched to provide prospects a stage to showcase their talent and earn offers or interest. That was the case over the last seven days as we saw a fair share of news in the Maryland/DC area in relation to recruiting.
COMMITMENTS
2021 DeMatha/Team Durant guard Jordan Hawkins Jordan Hawkins 6'5" | SF DeMatha | 2021 State #41 Nation MD made his commitment to head coach Dan Hurley and the UConn Huskies. The 6-foot-5 guard had plenty of programs hoping he’d choose their school but it was the Huskies who ended up earning his pledge. With good size and length for the off-ball guard position, Hawkins is a proven shooter with range and has also improved with his approach off the bounce. It’s a major win for the program as they continue to build quite the roster under Hurley’s control.
Another member of the Team Durant program made his college decision this week. It was 2021 guard Jalen Warley verbally committing to Florida State. Head coach Leonard Hamilton is cleaning up on the recruiting trail for the 2021 class and Warley becomes the cherry on top with his ability to control and facilitate a team. He’s a scoring threat from all three levels, knows how to set the table for others and takes pride in his guarding of the opposition’s ball handler. All of these characteristics to go with the fact that he’s 6-foot-5 should fit very nicely in the program.

OFFERS
2021 Bishop Walsh point guard Jalen Miller Jalen Miller 6'2" | PG Bishop Walsh | 2021 State #151 Nation MD adds an offer from head coach Rick Pitino and Iona. Miller is a consistent name on these recruiting reports as his list of offers approaches the 20 mark.
2021 River Hill/Team Thrill guard Nick Marshall Nick Marshall 6'4" | CG River Hill | 2021 State MD received an offer from Delaware last night. The 6-foot-4 guard has picked up significant college interest and offers despite their not being any live evaluations periods.
2021 Randallstown/Team Choo forward Jamai Felt had himself a weekend. After a solid showing at Hoop Group Summer Jam Fest, the 6-foot-9 lefty received offers from Chestnut Hill (DII), SMU, Texas Southern and Towson. Felt went into the weekend with zero offers. As college coaches lean heavily on film in regards to recruiting strategies, it’ll be interesting to see if Felt can gain momentum for the remainder of summer.
2022 St. Andrew’s Episcopal/Team Takeover wing Masai Troutman Masai Troutman 6'5" | SF St. Andrew's | 2022 State MD earned a huge offer from Florida yesterday. Troutman, who also holds an offer from Bryant, adds the Gators as his first high major offer and second in total. It isn’t often you see a high major swoop in early with an offer, however Troutman offers intriguing potential that will be interesting to see if he reaches with his new school.
2022 Clarksburg/District BC guard CJ Lee CJ Lee 6'1" | CG Northwest Jaguars | 2022 State MD received an offer from Bryant over the weekend. Lee is a 6-foot point guard who makes plays off the dribble with shifty moves and crafty passes or finishes. He brings a toughness and swagger to the court from his position and should continue to blossom into a nice college prospect over the next calendar year.
2023 Poly/Team Durant wing Kwame Evans Kwame Evans 6'9" | SF Montverde | 2023 State #20 Nation FL was offered by LSU. The Tigers have entrenched themselves in the DMV area as we’ve seen them get involved with prospects from various classes. Evans is regarded as a top 10 prospect nationally for the class of 2023 and continues to play well this summer. The 6-foot-9 lefty already has 12 offers.
2023 St. John’s DC/Team Durant forward Amani Hansberry Amani Hansberry 6'7" | C Mount St. Joseph | 2023 State #52 Nation MD was also offered by LSU. It’s Hansberrys’ second SEC offer with the other coming from Texas A&M. He also holds offers from DePaul, Rhode Island and Virginia Tech. The 6-foot-7 forward has an old school back to the basket approach offensively, but has previewed added versatility throughout the summer.
2023 Sidwell Friends/Team Durant point guard Cam Gillus Cam Gillus 5'10" | PG Sidwell Friends | 2023 State MD received an offer from Bryant. Gillus is a 5-foot-10 floor general who brings toughness and a nice skill set to a team. He knows how to score from three and around the rim while also making it a point in his game to set up others for easy baskets.
Commitment watch:
Former Poly guard Brandon Murray Brandon Murray 6'5" | SG IMG Academy | 2021 #220 Nation FL will announce his decision Friday at 8pm. Murray is set for a post-grad prep year at IMG Academy and ever since reclassing he’s witnessed an uptick in his recruitment. LSU, Memphis, Rhode Island and Virginia Tech are the group of schools he’ll chose from. LSU seems to be in the driver’s seat but Rhode Island and Virginia Tech have put too much time and effort in their pursuit to count them out. Memphis is out of the race, but was still included in his final four.
2021 Riverdale Baptist guard Devon Savage Devon Savage 6'4" | SF Riverdale Baptist | 2021 State MD will announce his commitment on Friday at 3pm. The 6-foot-4 guard holds offers from Bryant, George Washington, James Madison, La Salle, Robert Morris, Stony Brook and Towson. Savage has taken one official visit to George Washington which certainly plays in their favor, but watch out for James Madison as the Dukes have been recruiting the area aggressively and coming through.
