SubscribeWe are at the midway point of our top 50 players. Some ideas of mine to explain the rankings. Some of the 2023, players might very well be in the top 20 at the end of the year. But I feel right now the upperclassmen deserve to get the benefit of the doubt in rankings. They have performed already whereas the younger guys still have to prove themselves. It’s one thing to do it at the JV level but the varsity is a different animal. Any 2023 players on our list come with can’t miss potential or varsity experience. We have done 2024 reports and will do more, but I just can’t put an incoming freshman on this list. Furthermore the fans of city hoops and particularly the chsaa know how tough the league is. Every night is a rivalry , the schools are so close to each other, it brings out the best in everyone.
29. Keith Mency Keith Mency 6'1" | CG Marist | 2021 NY . 6”1. 2022. Stepinac HS
Marist HS in New Jersey closed. So Stepinac adds another talented player. Super quick and crafty to the basket. Can shoot the three as well. Has the talent to be successful in this very tough league.
28 Dallis Dillard 6”3. 2021 St. Rays HS
One of the best 3 point shooters in the league. Nice mid-range game. Good on the ball or off the ball defender. His game has really improved, as he has gained confidence. We expect him to raise up again…this his senior season.
27. Malik Cole 6”3. 2021 St. Edmunds HS
Malik is an explosive combo guard. He is a under the radar player. Very talented player. With the loss of two to graduation. St. Edmunds will ask him to lead a young team. He is definitely ready. A slasher type who can get up and flush it. Really good defender.
26 Nate Boateng 6”6. 2022 Fordham Prep HS
A lanky lefty. Can really get up. Does everything well. Can hit the three and is very good 15 ft and in. Good defender and rim protector. Would not be surprised to see him climb up this list at the seasons end.
25 Jahlil Bethea 6”2 2023 Christ the King HS
A 2023 player who might very well be in top 10 for the rest of his high school days. Already has 4 offers. A lefty guard who gets into the lane and scores. Has a nice floater and mid-range game. No matter how he is defended its seems like he gets to where he wants to everytime. A tremendous talent.
