2022: Phenom Challenge – Part 2

The Palmetto State 2022 Class is starting to make some headway here this summer with some solid play. Lets take a look at some players from the Palmetto State who played in the Phenom Challenge this past weekend in Rock Hill, SC right here. 

Amauri Johnson Amauri Johnson 6'2" | SG Christ Church | 2022 State SC – Christ Church – Upward Stars Upstate Rudy 

Johnson really came out and played today for his Upward Stars Upstate program. Johnson will have a change of address this coming season. Johnson has decided to transfer over to Christ Church to play with the John and Jordan Butler Jordan Butler 6'11" | PF Christ Church | 2023 State #57 Nation SC , Bennett Rogers Bennett Rogers 6'1" | CG Christ Church | 2021 State SC and Samuel Perry Samuel Perry 6'2" | CG Christ Church | 2022 State SC . Johnson a left-handed wing player played at Wren HS last season. Johnson connected on some three pointers and looked like has grown some in the past year. 

Bobby Taylor Bobby Taylor 5'10" | PG Daniel | 2022 State SC – Daniel HS (Central) – Upward Stars Upstate Rudy 

Taylor a left-handed point guard runs the show for this team. Taylor is  very vocal table setter on the floor. Taylor plays the game at a good pace and feel. Taylor got the ball into paint when he wanted to or penetrated and kicked it out to the open man. 

Jaleel Skinner Jaleel Skinner 6'5" | SF IMG Academy | 2022 FL – Greer HS – Upward Stars Upstate Rudy 

Skinner is a physical specimen on the hardwood. Skinner is a POWER 5 Football Recruit who has already landed several offers. Skinner plays Wide Receiver on the football field. Skinner has a GREAT MOTER and length on the floor. Skinner was all over the passing lanes today with his activity. 

Tre McLeod Tre McLeod 6'0" | CG Trinity Collegiate | 2022 SC – Trinity Byrnes (Darlington) – Upward Stars Pee Dee 

McLeod usually plays with Florence International (Not Playing during Covid-19) on the Grassroots Circuit but was here with the Pee Dee squad. McLeod has seemed to fill out a bit more on his frame. McLeod scored the ball on contact going to the basket today. McLeod can hit open shots on the floor and isn’t afraid to sacrifice his body on the floor for a loose ball. 

Sincere Pearson – Sumter HS – Carolina Pressure 2022  (pictured on the front  #7)

Pearson was a GREAT SURPRISE today as I had to go back in my notes on this young man. Pearson a left-handed guard kept putting constant pressure on the ball and knocking down floaters in the paint. Pearson played on the JV team last season for the Gamecocks. Pearson was relentless with his play on the floor between rebounding, diving on the floor, slashing to the basket or hitting a short jumper. Pearson will find someway to get on the floor this season for Head Coach Bryan Brown and the Gamecocks. Pearson was Johnny on the Spot all day long for the Carolina Pressure team.
