Top Stock Risers from last Weekend
As we head into the final weekend of July basketball action, Prep Hoops Missouri takes a look at some of the top stock risers from last weekend’s action from the Hardwood, Sunflower and Arch Elite events.
Class of 2021
Jalen Hampton Jalen Hampton 6'7" | PF Link Year | 2022 MO 6’6″ Carroll GoL1ve 17U: The pogo stick of a combo forward from University City had some dominant performances at the Sunflower Showcase. His ability to put the ball on the floor and attack the basket made him a most difficult matchup against bigger defenders. He averaged a double-double for the weekend as he threw down numerous dunks while rebounding and blocking shots.
Najee Williams Najee Williams 6'3" | SG Truman | 2021 State MO 6’4″ Marcus Denmon Elite 17U: An explosive 2021 wing from Truman who put on a great display of dunking throughout the weekend at the Sunflower Showcase. He also has a nice game to go along with his athleticism as he displayed his slashing ability and 3-point shooting prowess as well.
Cole Farrell 6’4″ SW ILL Jets Blue 17U: Another freak athlete who attends Hazelwood Central who was wearing out the rims at the Sunflower Showcase all weekend with tip-slams and tomahawk dunks. He also get into the lane and finished in traffic with layups and short jumpers. He has continued to expand his game with his ball handling and improved 3-point shooting.
Jaden Monday Jaden Monday 6'0" | PG Van Horn | 2021 State MO 6’0″ SSA Elite-Black 17U: A talented scoring point guard from Van Horn who was excellent at the first session of the Hardwood Classic. He was extremely difficult to guard with his ability to get by defenders with his speed and handles combined with his perimeter shooting. He had one 30-point outing during the tournament.
Seth Larsen Seth Larsen 6'5" | SG Hickman | 2021 State MO 6’5″ Sting 17U: A big physical wing from Columbia Hickman was very entertaining to watch at the Hardwood. He is not going to blow by defenders, but he can score at all three levels and get his own shot with his creative handles and escape moves. He also has a post game that includes a nice fadeaway jumper.
Aaron Hendricks Aaron Hendricks 6'7" | PF MICDS | 2021 State MO 6’7″ Arsenal Hoops 17U: The bouncy power forward from MICDS was a double-double machine in leading his team to the championship game of the Arch Elite Showcase. He was very active around the basket as he rebounded, blocked shots and threw down several dunks with authority. He displayed a nice lefty jump hook over the right shoulder and he ran the court with great energy.
Emmanuel McLemore Emmanuel McLemore 6'4" | SG Holt | 2021 State MO 6’4″ St. Louis Cobras A.N.M 17U: A physical combo forward who had an impressive weekend at the Arch Elite Showcase. He has a big body and he plays a physical game inside, but he is also very skilled on the perimeter which causes matchup problems. He had one game with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Collin Parker 6’7 Missouri Elite: The versatile combo forward from Montgomery County averaged close to 20 points a game at the Sunflower Showcase. He scored on a variety moves in the post while also hitting the pick and pop 3-pointer.
Class of 2022
Kortez Stevenson Kortez Stevenson 6'7" | PF Center | 2022 State MO 6’6″ Team KC-Marcus 16U: A big bodied lefty post player from KC Center who was a difficult matchup at the Sunflower with his ability to get buckets in the post with his footwork, crafty head and shoulder fakes and shooting touch. He can also take his game outside and make plays off the dribble and sink 3-pointers. It’s a very unique skill package for a young man of his size.
Tresean White Tresean White 6'0" | PG Confluence Prep | 2022 State MO 6’0″ Carroll GoL1ve 16U: Talented young point guard from Confluence Prep who was very good at the Sunflower Classic. He is a tough two way guard who was able to get by most defenders with his speed and quickness off the dribble. He was also knocking down 3-pointers against zone defenses. He was also disruptive on defense with his quick hands to pick pockets.
Bennett Stiritz 6’3″ 810 Varsity (Cherepkai): Talented combo forward from Liberty who was strong in leading his team to a championship at the Hardwood Classic. He had a couple of 23-point outings in the semifinals and the championship game. His versatility was on full display as he shoot the ball well from the perimeter, got buckets on some good cuts off the ball. His ball handling and passing skills were also solid.
Ethan Chartrand Ethan Chartrand 6'2" | SG Webster Groves | 2022 State MO 6’2″ Arsenal Hoops 16U: A bouncy wing from Webster Groves who led Arsenal to the 16U championship at the Arch Elite Showcase. He attacks the basketball relentlessly and finishes well with layups and an excellent float game. He also threw down some impressive dunks in transition.
