Emoni Bates (commits to Michigan State): Bates made national news when he decided to commit to Michigan State on Friday, July 3. At the same time, Bates and his father announced they were creating Ypsi Prep Academy, where he will play the next two years. The 6’8 forward is the clear cut #1 recruit in the country and looks like a guaranteed lottery pick in a few years. Check out his commitment video here.
Kobe Bufkin Kobe Bufkin 6'4" | SG Grand Rapids Christian | 2021 State #71 Nation MI (commits to Michigan): Bufkin, the top ranked senior-to-be in the state, committed to Juwan Howard and Michigan on Friday, July 10 via Twitter. He chose the Wolverines over scholarship offers from DePaul, LSU, Michigan State, Ohio State, and more. The 6’4 shooting guard is ranked 78th nationally according to 247 Sports.
Max Christie (commits to Michigan State): Just a few days after Bates’ commitment to the Spartans, Tom Izzo added another 5-star recruit in Christie. The 6’6 sharp shooter, who is headed into his senior campaign, turned down scholarship offers from Baylor, Duke, Purdue, Villanova, and others. Christie is our top ranked senior in Illinois.
JT Morgan JT Morgan 6'6" | PF UD Jesuit | 2020 State MI (commits to Maryville): Morgan is a 6’6 power forward out of Waterford and U of D Jesuit, who announced his commitment to Maryville University in St. Louis. He made the official decision on Thursday, July 2 via Twitter. Morgan‘s biggest strengths are blocking shots, rebounding, and scoring inside. He’ll head to Maryville next season.
Orlando Lovejoy Orlando Lovejoy 6'3" | CG 1 of 1 Prep | 2022 State NC (offer from Morehouse): Lovejoy, who is the 5th ranked player in the class of 2022, recently received an offer from Morehouse on Monday, July 6. He also holds offers from Detroit Mercy, Long Island, and Mississippi Valley State. The quick point guard has a nice handle and can finish with either hand at the rim. Morehouse is located in Atlanta.
