SLC has produced some great talent in the past few years. The last notable players from Salt Lake County that has a shot to play at the highest level beyond college as of late is Bingham Alum Yoeli Childs (BYU). The talent coming back next year has a long way to go but there are a lot of notable players.
In this second installment we take a look at a new set of players we should get to know. We start it off with two young sophomores that made a big jump from their freshman year for their respective schools.
6’3 Logan Prince Logan Prince 6'3" | CG West Jordan | 2022 State UT (West Jordan)
Heady guard that has good composure for a young guard. Really good shooter off of the catch and shoot position. He also has good court vision and awareness. He doesn’t need the ball in his hands to get open and score. He is a player that you need to know where he is at on the floor. His head is always up when the ball is in his hands to find open teammates.
6’2 Elijah Tolbert Elijah Tolbert 6'2" | PG Highland | 2022 State UT (Highland)
Explosive point guard that has a good motor. Elijah was able to pick up a lot of the scoring slack as his team faced injuries. Elijah could make another jump entering his junior season as the go to guy. Great in the open floor and coming off of screens.
6’4 Chudi Anosike Chudi Anosike 6'5" | CG Murray | 2023 State UT (Murray)
Has the ideal frame to have success as a guard and wing. When he plays consistently and with a high motor he is a tough player to defend. Could shoot the ball and can get to the basket with a strong finishing ability. He also possesses a nice floater in his arsenal. Will have more of a scoring role next season.
6’2 Carson Butler Carson Butler 6'1" | CG Copper Hills | 2021 State UT (Copper Hills)
Quietly one of the better shooters in the state this past season. Carson will not get many open looks next season which could mean he adds more to his game or he will find ways to get his shots up or increase his range. Catch and shoot player that doesn’t need much space to get it off. He has different variations to his shot and he can nailed them.
