While I personally wasn’t on site at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Long Beach, the live stream set up to cast on my 50-inch Samsung TV in my office more than sufficed for evaluation purposes.
One of the games I was intrigued to watch at this event was Dream Vision 17s vs. Cali Rebels as those programs each had local and regional talent on display. Below are the standouts from that game in which DV took a 73-60 victory.
Maxwell Lewis Maxwell Lewis 6'6" | SF Hillcrest Prep | 2020 #66 Nation AZ , Dream Vision – Lewis was undoubtedly the best athlete on the floor in this game. The 6-foot-7 wing uses his long strides to cover ground quickly in transition and his length and leaping ability to glide to the cup for dunks or strong paint finishes. Lewis, who will play at Hillcrest Prep next season, scored a game-high 22 points, including a couple of wing three-pointers, which was good to see as a new layer to his offensive game.
Milos Uzan Milos Uzan 6'4" | PG Dream City Christian | 2022 State #60 Nation AZ , Dream Vision – Uzan is one of the more talented point guards on the west coast and that was on full display in this contest. The 6-foot-3 rising junior is as crafty as they come with the ball in his hands and used ball screens to create shots for himself and teammates at-will. The Las Vegas (NV) Desert Pines product scored 13 points, but created countless opportunities for teammates.
Devan Sapp, Dream Vision – Sapp, who was previously a standout 2020 shooting guard at San Jose Archbishop Mitty, transferred to First Love Christian Academy (PA) and reclassified to the 2021 class is now listed as attending Balboa Prep in the San Diego area. The strong-bodied 6-foot-3 prospect is a lethal catch and shoot threat with time and space. He scored 17 points in the win, hitting three from deep.
Roddie Anderson Roddie Anderson 6'1" | PG Fountain Valley | 2022 State CA-S , Cali Rebels – Those who follow Orange County high school basketball closely know that Anderson is one of the more promising young players in the area. The 6-foot-1, class of 2022 point guard is tough defender who picked up his assignment 94-feet from the rim. Offensively, he’s a quick and strong driver and finisher with good burst in the open court. Anderson scored 12 points off the bench.
Christian Johnson Christian Johnson 6'0" | PG Lynwood | 2021 State CA-S , Cali Rebels – The Lynwood High standout is well-versed in the scoring guard skill-set. Johnson, a 6-foot point guard, can put the ball in the basket in a variety of ways and showed his three-point, mid-range and paint finishing arsenal with a team-high 14 points.
