There are volume shooters that take a lot of shots therefore they rack up their numbers. There are knockdown shooters that other teams game plan for and they can’t get very many shots up. There are players that play against many teams that play zones and they are able to get a lot of 3-pointers up as well. Then there are high percentage shooters as well as shooters that are automatic if left open. We take a look at a few of these top shooters in the state coming back next year.
Each of these prospects could arguably be the best so we will not rank them but simply acknowledge that they are some of the best in the state.
Duncan Reid Duncan Reid 6'4" | SG Skyridge | 2021 State UT
If you do not know where Duncan is on the floor at all times you are in trouble. Duncan is one of those players that if he is open he is more than likely to knock it down. With an ideal height at 6’4 the shooting guard from Sky Ridge High School in Lehi is deadly from long range. Even though he is on everyone’s game plan to stop when it comes to getting to the three and shooting uncontested shots he is still able to produce. Duncan really knows how to get to his spots and he has a quick release which makes him a difficult cover. He is also a Division 1 prospect with offers because of his skills.
Carson Butler Carson Butler 6'1" | CG Copper Hills | 2021 State UT
A fairly unknown player that can absolutely make shots. He had an astonishing 76 three-pointers made this past season. It was apparent that when he got going he got going. He is that player that could challenge that state record next season. The 6’2 shooting guard is a player to definitely keep an eye on. Carson only had two games last season where he wasn’t able to convert on a three-pointer but he made up for it with an 8 and 9 three-pointers made games. The Copper Hills shooting guard will be a major part of the scoring attack next season especially with his ability to knock them down.
Kaden Cox Kaden Cox 6'0" | SG Ridgeline | 2022 State UT
Not only is Kaden one of the best shooters in the state he is only a sophomore. The 6’0 shooting guard from Ridgeline High School can really knock them down at a high percentage. Kaden was able to knock down 3 three-pointers a game last season which is a number that could go up next season. Kaden works well without the ball of of pin-downs. We were able to see him really step out and hit the deep three at state this past year which could really open the ability for him to continue to expand his game. Kaden has a bright future ahead of him.
