However, smart coaches know the value of guys who not only stretch the floor but also the ones who still know how to control the paint.
Check out this list of bigs who probably deserve more credit.
Rashaad Frye Rashaad Frye 6'5" | NA lbs | PF Opelika | 2022 State #NA Nation AL , 6’5 PF, Opelika: A skilled post player who really thrives on the left block. He has a good jump hook over his left shoulder and a strong drop step baseline side. His footwork is good on the block but will only get better. He can step out and knock down the 15 ft jump shot with regularity. He has nice mechanics on his shot so with continued work could move that range out to the 3 point line.
JT Gilbert JT Gilbert 6'8" | NA lbs | PF Hamilton | 2022 State #NA Nation AL , 6’8 PF/C, Haleyville: A strong body post that demands space on the block. He does a good job of establishing post position and is comfortable plying on either block. He is a righty that can use either hand in the post. He has a very good left-hand jump hook on either block going baseline or middle. He can also step out 15-17 ft and knock down catch and shoot opportunities.
Eli Kirby Eli Kirby 6'5" | NA lbs | PF Fort Payne | 2022 State #NA Nation AL , 6’5 PF, Fort Payne: Another defensive post player who is strong and does a great job of not letting players get comfortable post position. He is a very tough rebounder on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. Look for him to continue to improve offensively which would improve his stock in these rankings.
Colin Turner Colin Turner 6'9" | NA lbs | PF Spain Park | 2022 State #NA Nation AL , 6’8 PF, Spain Park: A defensive big man whose value shines through protecting the rim, gobbling up defensive rebounds, and giving his team extra possessions by crashing the offensive glass with authority. He has good hands and attacks the basket hard when he gets his offensive opportunities. He is a great role player that will only improve over the next several seasons.
Caden Brown Caden Brown 6'5" | NA lbs | PF Auburn | 2022 State #NA Nation AL , 6’5 PF, Auburn: A athletic post player that is very strong at attacking the rim. He will not hesitate to put defenders in the rim if they try and challenge him. He is a very good passer out of the post consistently finding cutting teammates when being double-teamed. The thing you like most about this prospect is that he knows his strengths and weaknesses and stays within himself. I’m sure he will help the Tigers be successful this upcoming season.
