The post position has changed so much over the years with their ability to step out and shoot the basketball yet still perform the traditional big man duties.
Here is a list of prospects who fit those molds in this class.
Kendan Maddox Kendan Maddox 6'7" | PF Pelham | 2021 State AL , 6’7 PF, Pelham: This prospect is a load on the block. His ability to use his body and brute strength is tough for defenders to deal with for 32 minutes. He consistently establishes deep post position on both blocks and finishes well around the rim. He has a nice faceup game and can shoot the ball out to the three-point line. Potential to be a high volume rebounder on both ends of the floor.
DeWaun Stubbs DeWaun Stubbs 6'8" | PF Autaugaville | 2021 State AL , 6’9 PF, Autaugaville: A long wiry athletic big that plays well in the open court whether its rim runs or running the open lane. He is a very good shot-blocker with good timing and very long arms. He has nice touch from 12-15 ft and has the ability to put the ball on the ground from this range and finish strong at the rim. He needs to improve his back to the basket game but does have a nice jump hook from the left block. A work in progress that has all the tools wanted and needed to work with.
Jordan Bell Jordan Bell 6'5" | PF Williamson | 2021 State AL , 6’5 PF, Willamson: A tough and rugged big that can at times step out and play the small forward position. An exceptional athlete that runs the floor well and plays every play with maximum effort. This 2-sport star shows the toughness he brings from the gridiron to the hardwood on virtually every play. He can guard almost the 1-5 position with his strength and lateral quickness. On offense, he can play off the dribble and has and nice jump shot. He is most effective in the open court running by defenders like he was running a nine route on the football field.
Zeke Spann Zeke Spann 6'8" | PF Bessemer City | 2021 State AL , 6’8 PF, Bessemer City: A stretch 4 that can shoot the three and put the ball on the floor and beat his opponent off the dribble. He is a good passer for his position who is able to make pinpoint passes off the dribble. He plays above the rim on both ends of the floor and is a matchup problem with his ability to do so many things on the floor. As he continues to develop and grow he could at times play that 3/4 position for a team that can play big lineups.
Jamal Albritton Jamal Albritton 6'8" | PF Lee (Montgomery) | 2021 State AL , 6’7 PF/C, Lee (Montgomery): This kid is the definition of run, catch, and finish. These may be the most 3 important attributes to a traditional big. He is probably at any time the fastest person on the floor end to end. He has a very high motor and looks to dunk everything he gets his hands on. A pick and roll nightmare with his ability to catch lobs at the basket and finish in traffic with a short jump hook or a monstrous dunk. He is a very intelligent rim protector who looks to block everything but understands the laws of verticality at a young age. A raw talent who will only get better.
Jerrell Bellamy Jerrell Bellamy 6'8" | PF Central | 2021 State AL , 6’8 PF, Central: A skilled big that a very good face-up game. He plays very well in the high post whether it’s shooting the 15-foot jump shot or putting the ball on the floor and posterizing defenders at the rim. He can stretch his range out to the 3 point line but is most effective in that mid-range area. A good shot blocker and rebounder that runs well with good hands. A prospect college coaches should definitely keep their eye on going into his senior season.
