Before the remainder of the 2020 PSAL City Playoffs was canceled due to COVID-19 the Final Four was set to feature three teams from the Brooklyn Division; South Shore, Brooklyn Collegiate, and Thomas Jefferson. Here are some of the most electrifying playmakers from PSAL’s stacked Brooklyn Division.
Khalil Brantley Khalil Brantley 5'10" | PG Boys & Girls | 2021 State #176 Nation NY : Boys & Girls, PG
Khalil Brantley Khalil Brantley 5'10" | PG Boys & Girls | 2021 State #176 Nation NY is a scoring machine. He can score at all three levels very efficiently. He is near unguardable offensively because of his ability to make difficult shots, create separation from defenders with his ball-handling, and play at his own pace. When you combine that with his passing ability it is easy to see why he very well may be the most dangerous playmaker in not just the Brooklyn Division, but in the entire PSAL.
Marcus Burnett: South Shore, PG/SG
Marcus Burnett has been a fixture in Brooklyn’s AA Division since his Freshman Year at Thomas Jefferson. Now at South Shore Burnett has picked up where he left off. He’s a very good scorer, shooter, ball-handler, and decision-maker with the ball in his hands. He has a knack for seeing plays before they develop whether it’s for himself or for his teammates. When he looks to attack the basket his quick first step and ball-handling ability make him nearly impossible to stop when he gets downhill. Burnett is the complete package offensively and never looks to do much which is what makes him special. Even with his advanced skill set, he always seems to takes what the defense gives him without ever trying to do too much.
Jaquan Carlos Jaquan Carlos 5'11" | PG Jefferson | 2021 State #180 Nation NY : Thomas Jefferson, PG
Jaquan Carlos Jaquan Carlos 5'11" | PG Jefferson | 2021 State #180 Nation NY is a quick, shifty guard that consistently puts pressure on the defense. He has elite body control and elite handle. He’s also is a very good shooter from mid-range, can stop on a dime, and does a great job of being balanced. However, his best attribute may be his court vision. Carlos is an elite floor general and passer as he always seems to get his teammates the ball in the right spots and at the right time. His ability to be a threat for 20 points and 10 assists anytime he steps on the court is what really separates him from many other point guards.
Majesty Johnson: Brooklyn Collegiate, PG
Senior Majesty Johnson is one of the best passers in the PSAL Brooklyn Division. When he does look to score his unique offensive arsenal was often highlighted this past season. His ability to finish around the rim with contact layups, and floaters and his ability to shoot off-balance made him one of the more complete offensive guards in Brooklyn’s PSAL Division in the 2019-2020 season.
