The Starting Five
Andrew Dalton 6’2″ Ava: The talented wing had a big season in leading the Bears to a district title and a berth in the Class 3 state quarterfinals. He could make plays from anywhere on the floor as he played several different roles from playmaker to go-to bucket-getter. Dalton averaged 24.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and three steals a game while shooting 63 percent from the field.
Taj Manning 6’7″ Grandview: After having an impact freshman season on a state championship team last season, the versatile forward enjoyed another impressive season in leading the Bulldogs to a 21-6 record and another Class 4 district championship. Manning averaged 16.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and nearly two blocks a game. His offensive game is potent in the low post or on the perimeter.
Robert Martin 5’9″ CBC: The slick young point guard was a big catalyst in the Cadets earning a return trip to the Class 5 Final Four. Martin averaged 10.3 points and 4.5 assists a game while making 39 percent of his 3-pointers. His ability to score and facilitate proved to be a perfect backcourt compliment to McDonald’s All-American teammate Caleb Love Caleb Love 6'3" | PG Christian Brothers | 2020 State #23 Nation MO .
Jevon Porter 6’10″ Father Tolton: Another tall and talented member of the Porter family, young Jevon proved to be one of the toughest matchups in the state with his combination of size and versatile set of skills. He has a feathery jump shot from 3-point range with the ability to make a play off the dribble. His can score around the basket with smooth moves and a nice shooting touch, plus his length makes him a capable shot-blocker.
Tarris Reed, Jr. 6’8″ Chaminade: The versatile power forward moved to the forefront as a sophomore in spearheading the Red Devils run to the Class 5 Final Four. He is a force in the low post who can also step out and knock down jumpers and put the ball on the floor. He averaged 14.5 points and 8.3 rebounds while shooting 60 percent from the field. He has already received offers from the likes of Missouri, Kansas State and Saint Louis U.
