Let’s get right into the list.
Nicolas Louis – Jacques: South Miami Cobras
When you are looking for a shooting guard, it helps to be an efficient scorer. This past season, Louis-Jacques proved his merit by shooting 53% from the field and averaging 16.6 points per game. In addition, the 6’5″ senior shot an absurd 62% (79/128) behind the 3-point line per MaxPreps. Furthermore, Louis-Jacques knocked down 81% of his free-throws. Conclusion…Louis-Jacques can shoot. Helped the Cobras to a 22-6 record. Currently, he holds offers from Stetson and Mercer.
Jose-Luis Benitez: Schoolhouse Prep Wolfpack
A senior captain for Schoolhouse Prep, Benitez led the Wolfpack to a 20-9 season and a spot in the 2A final four. The 6’1″ guard averaged 11.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists for Schoolhouse Prep. On the defensive side, Benitez has good hands, evident by his 3.2 steals per game average. Moreover, Benitez posted ten games with five or more takeaways. Clearly, his vision and tenacity on the defensive side of the ball is an asset.
Vee’Lesk Avin: North Miami Pioneers
If you are looking for a player with a never give up attitude, Avin would be a good example. The senior captain is a playmaker, averaging 20.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists for the Pioneers. Per MaxPreps, Avin scored 20 or more points eight times, including a pair of 30-point efforts. In the classroom, he holds a 4.0 GPA, 1080 SAT and 22 ACT. At 6’4″, Avin has good size to play over smaller guards and can compete at both back-court spots. Recently, he picked up offers from Holy Family and Labette Community College.
Justin Reid Justin Reid 6'5" | PF Dr. Krop | 2020 State FL : Dr. Krop Lightning
In my opinion, Reid is a sleeper in Miami-Dade county. The 6″5 forward led Dr. Krop to a 16-5 record while leading the team in scoring at 16.5 points per game. A warrior on the glass, Reid topped the Lightning in rebounding (8.5), including 3.5 on the offensive end. Against Goleman, Reid posted a season-high 29 points while shooting 11 for 13 from the field. Foreshadowing those marks, Reid ended the season shooting an impressive 68% from the field and 75% from the free-throw line according to MaxPreps. Overall, you are looking at a reliable player around the paint with a high motor on the glass.
Dashaun Jospeh: Dr. Krop Lightning
A long 6’7″ forward, Jospeh finished second behind Reid in both scoring (14.2) and rebounding (5.2) for the Lightning. A versatile player, Joseph is capable of scoring both inside and out. Against Central Florida Christian Academy, Joseph went a perfect 4 for 4 from behind the arc and finished with 20 points. With his ability to hit from long range, Jospeh is a capable stretch four who can keep defenses honest.
Devin Carter Devin Carter 6'4" | SG Doral Academy | 2021 #200 Nation NLG : Doral Academy Firebirds
The cream of the crop of unsigned seniors, Carter is the last big domino to fall now that Tony Sanders Tony Sanders 6'6" | SF Gulliver Prep | 2020 State #309 Nation FL of Gulliver Prep has committed to Notre Dame. The 6’4″ guard averaged 28.8 points and 8.7 rebounds across 17 games for the Firebirds this season. An excellent shooter, Carter knocked down 59% of his two-point field goals and 82% of his free-throws. Moreover, the D-1 prospect can light it up from long range, evident when he went 6 for 9 against Stoneman Douglas for 37 points. Carter has an excellent first step and acceleration getting to the rim. The only question now is, where is he going to go?
Ga’Khari Lacount Ga’Khari Lacount 6'0" | CG Coral Park | 2020 State FL : Coral Park Rams
Recently decommiting from Lynn University, Lacount was the top scorer in Miami-Dade after averaging 31.0 points per contest. An added caveat to his game is his rebounding ability. The 6’1″ guard posted an impressive 7.6 per game average. Along with his work on the glass, Lacount has good vision and able to read passing lanes in the open court. In his triple-double performance against Florida Christian, Lacount dished out eleven assists. A complete player who will make his teammates around him better.
