In keeping with our content theme of breaking down this rankings update, in this piece we take a look at some lower-rated prospects with a chance to rise over the next year.
Alex Crawford Alex Crawford 6'6" | SF Eastlake | 2021 State CA-S , Eastlake – Crawford shouldered much of the production for Eastlake this season with averages of 17.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game. The lanky 6-foot-6 wing is as versatile as any player in the San Diego area. He’s showed the ability to score inside and out, rebound the defensive glass, push the break and play-make for teammates, and uses his length well on the defensive end to disrupt passing lanes. One of his most intriguing qualities of Crawford’s game is his face-up ability, hitting mid-range jumper and taking bigger defenders off the dribble and score at the rim.
Andrew Cook Andrew Cook 6'2" | SG Servite | 2021 State CA-S , Servite – Cook showed his scoring chops in a major way this season. The 6-foot-2 junior averaged 15.8 points per game during his junior campaign, with most of his damage coming at the mid-range and close-range levels. Cook has some wiggle to his game off the bounce, which allows him to create space and hit rhythm jumpers or get by defenders and finish at the cup.
Francky Naguidebe Francky Naguidebe 6'7" | PF University City | 2021 State CA-S , University City – Big men are always later to develop, and with the growing emphasis on guard play, that tried and true statement is even more accurate in the current state of the game. Naguidebe didn’t get a whole lot of attention throughout SoCal, though his stats should have proved otherwise, as the 6-foot-7 forward put up averages of 17.2 points, 12.1 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game in helping his team to 21 wins on the season. The active, athletic and high-energy junior is one for colleges who need a big to keep an eye on next season.
Jack Kresich Jack Kresich 6'5" | SF Loyola | 2021 State CA-S , Loyola – The 6-foot-6 shooting guard has really nice size and length for the position and is one of the best off-guards when it comes to moving without the basketball to find space to get a shot off. Kresich has a fluid shooting stroke and can hit deep perimeter shots off the catch with consistency. He averaged 10.4 points per game as a junior and had some of his bigger scoring performances later in the season.
Steven Jammerson Steven Jammerson 6'7" | C Crespi | 2021 State CA-S , Crespi – Jammerson is an intriguing, late-developing big man who makes his biggest impact at the defensive end of the floor. The 6-foot-8 center has an innate ability to protect the rim with timing on shot blocks and stay vertical on shot contests. Jammerson has a good set of hands when catching and finishing drop off passes, but still has some work to do when it comes to his back to the basket skill set.
