It was a bit of a partial story for the all-around 6-foot-3 senior guard at West Salem though as he really only got on the court for half of the year. The loss has him looking at different options when it comes to his college recruitment but he’s hopeful for big things in the future.
“I got a stress fracture in my ankle from overuse and I was out for a month and a half almost,” Scoggin said. “I got back and got playing again right at the end of the season.”
On the year, Scoggin was able to get into 15 games and averaged 20.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. Schools like Central Washington and Western Oregon had been tracking him during the season and he was also hearing from some other Division III schools but Scoggin is looking at getting more exposure this off-season.
“I think that I can go up at a better level so I’m going to keep trying to find the best way to get there,” Scoggin said. “Everything got canceled right now but I’m planning on playing some more spring and summer (AAU) ball and then I’m kind of thinking of going prep or post-grad and not start college yet. But I’ll see what I get from the summer since I wasn’t in the best situation this last year with me being out.”
Obviously things with AAU basketball are a bit on hold given the current national situation, but Scoggin has some plans on who he will run with once it all gets back to normal. “Right now I’m planning to go back with California Select as I’m familiar with them,” Scoggin said. “I’ve been maintaining contact with them and I think it will make it a lot easier for me. I’m looking forward to playing with those guys again.”
According to Scoggin, California Select will be playing some adidas tournaments as well as some events on the PrepHoops Circuit. He currently ranks as the #14 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2020 rankings.
