#9 Lumberton vs #4 Hoggard
Both of these teams are somewhat Cinderella stories as neither was picked by many to make it to Regionals. However both squads seem to be playing their best ball at the right time which should make for a very good semi-final matchup. Lumberton recently pulled off a win on the road against Garner so clearly they know how to win in tough environments. Hoggard has protected home court well this year and advanced to this round by getting a double digit win over Hillside.
Players to watch
Lumberton HS Senior Guard Jordan McNeill: One of the most competitive players that you will see, he plays the game with a high level of intensity and shows leadership regardless of what may be going on. We feel like he would be a nice fit for a program at the D2 level as he can play both guards spots but also plays bigger than his height may suggest due to his strength and rebounding ability.
Hoggard HS Senior Guard Sabastian Haidera: Their squad has multiple players that have stepped up this year but if they want to pull off the win they will need his senior leadership and play on both ends of the floor. He has smooth shooting stroke from outside but also can get into the paint and score the ball as well.
#3 Pinecrest vs #2 Leesville Road
Both teams have had outstanding season so far but the way they have gone about their business has been opposite of each other. Leesville Road has been the team that you have seen all over the internet in highlight footage with plenty of publicity and attention going to Whitt and McDonald. Pinecrest has been a team that has flown under the radar but have flat out got it done all season long without receieving a ton of media attention. This game has a chance to be a good one and the fans from both schools will want to make sure they get their tickets early.
Players to Watch
Leesville Road Junior PG Carter Whitt: Currently he holds offers from schools such as: NC State, UVA, VA Tech and other as he considered the top PG prospect in the state. He been in the spotlight now since he was in middle school and has stepped up to just about every challenge that he has faced over the years. His ability to score the ball is evident, you don’t have to look far to see that as he put up 30 point performances recently against some high level teams.
Pinecrest HS Junior PG Bradlee Haskell: He’s not necessarily a household name recruitment wise but he has proven himself in the last few years as a legit D1 prospect and D1 programs are now showing heavy interest. His ability to score the ball has been on full display as he has put together multiple 30+ point games as well as a 51 point game but the most impressive attribute about him his IQ. He makes good reads and is just as impressive with his ability to facilitate as he is with his ability to score the ball.
