College Commitment: Alex Nicoli (2020 Western Christian HS)
While the season may not have ended in another 2A state championship, Alex Nicoli Alex Nicoli 6'1" | CG Western Christian | 2020 State OR is statisfied. The hard-nosed 6-foot-1, 175-pound guard had a stellar senior year with Western Christian and ended up earning First Team All-State honors. Now Nicoli is all set with his college destination as well. After recently checking out the campus of Missouri Baptist he’s decided to play his college basketball in the Midwest.
“I took my visit there and I loved it,” Nicoli said. “We went to downtown St. Louis and then I got to see the campus and I liked how small it was, it reminded me of what we have at Western Christian.”
Missouri Baptist is a NAIA program located south of downtown St. Louis. They had offered Nicoli a scholarship back in December after seeing him on tape and the senior was originally looking at taking a campus visit in January. Unfortunately that trip was delayed but after making this recent visit, he not only liked what he saw on campus but enjoyed what he heard from talking with the coaching staff.
“They like to play up-tempo and like to shoot the ball,” Nicoli said. “I like to shoot the ball so I liked hearing that.”
Nicoli – who ended his career as one of the state’s all-time leading three-point shooters with over 300 made – is the second senior from Western Christian’s squad to head to a four-year school on scholarship, joining Payton Richardson Payton Richardson 6'3" | SF Western Christian | 2020 State OR who signed with Seattle Pacific in the fall.
