The results held pretty firm at the top with Evan Mobley Evan Mobley 6'11" | PF Rancho Christian | 2020 State #1 Nation CA-S retaining the No. 1 spot with Ziaire Williams Ziaire Williams 6'8" | SF Sierra Canyon | 2020 State #9 Nation CA-S close behind at No. 2. The top newcomer in the senior class was Sierra Canyon’s Brandon Boston Jr. Brandon Boston Jr. 6'6" | SG Sierra Canyon | 2020 State #8 Nation CA-S , who made his way to Chatsworth from Georgia and helped the Trailblazers win a CIF Southern Section Open Division title and a SoCal Regional State title. Below you’ll find some of the top prospects who debuted in our rankings.
Brandon Boston Jr. Brandon Boston Jr. 6'6" | SG Sierra Canyon | 2020 State #8 Nation CA-S , Sierra Canyon
As mentioned above, Boston’s presence on the Sierra Canyon roster provided exactly what one can imagine from a player of his stature. The 6-foot-6 shooting guard, who will head to Kentucky in the fall, is one of the more explosive three-level scorers in the country, let alone the state. Boston looked to be a seamless fit with the Trailblazers from the get-go as his ability to create shots in isolation and take, and make, shots in clutch situations. Boston was named the Southern Section Open Division Player of the Year and helped Sierra Canyon to a 30-4 overall record.
Ty Harper Ty Harper 6'2" | CG Santa Clarita Christian | 2020 State CA-S , Santa Clarita Christian
Harper was another out-of-state transfer who made a huge impact. The 6-foot-2 combo guard provided Santa Clarita Christian with a much-needed punch of athleticism and dynamic playmaking ability. Harper’s clutch shot-making and momentum-changing dunks helped the Cardinals win the Gold Division championship at the Classic at Damien and led them to a CIF Southern Section Division 2AA championship. The explosive lefty is unsigned at the time of this piece being published, but has plenty of college options on the table.
Fidelis Okereke Fidelis Okereke 6'6" | C King/Drew | 2020 State CA-S , King/Drew
In our latest update, we doubled the number of seniors ranked from 100 to 200 and Okereke was one of the biggest benefactors of that. The 6-foot-6 center checks in at No. 52 as his shot blocking, rebounding along with his general toughness and physicality helped the Golden Eagles to a 25-9 overall record and an appearance in the City Section Open Division semifinals. Despite being a bit undersized for his position, Okereke’s timing and anticipation on the defensive end made him one of the most prolific shot blockers in the state.
Isaiah Holm Isaiah Holm 6'9" | C St. John Bosco | 2020 State CA-S , St. John Bosco
Holm stepped into a major role for a very good team this season. The Chico State-bound center provided St. John Bosco with a stretch five who proved to be a difficult cover due to his ability to hit the pick-and-pop and trail 3-point shots with consistency. Holm was just outside our Top 100 in our last ranking update, but jumped into the mix at No. 66 with his smooth set shooting and offensive IQ when setting screens and helping free up teammates for open looks.
Dominic Escobar Dominic Escobar 6'5" | SF Shadow Hills | 2020 State CA-S , Shadow Hills
Escobar first made himself known to the Prep Hoops SoCal staff at the Hoops By Ugland Skills Summit in August, as many hadn’t seen him play with his Indio-based Shadow Hills squad. The 6-foot-5 forward plays with a high motor and good energy on both ends of the floor, attacks the offensive and defensive glass with reckless abandon, and has the strength to absorb and finish through contact around the basket. Escobar led Shadow Hills to a CIF Southern Section Division 3A championship.
