1) Shawnee Heights continues to grow:
Playing in the Dodge City Tournament of Champions, the T-Birds rolled over Dodge City in round one, 59-36. The T-Birds forced 22 turnovers and harassed the Red Demons into just 26% shooting. Big man Nasire Anderson was slowed after several big outings, but 6-foot-4 sophomore Carter Olson had 13 points.
2) Seaman stills seeks first win:
Derby was too much for the Vikings in the opening round of the McPherson Invitational. Seaman will face a familiar foe in round two in Junction City. Freshman Kaeden Bonner led the Vikings with 13 points, including four three-pointers. Junior Micah Kobuszewski added 12.
3) Shawnee Heights faces an enormous test:
The T-Birds will have a chance to measure themselves against the best. They take on the state’s top rated team in Campus. The Colts bring a collection of talent headed by seniors Shawn Warrior, Steele Chapman and Thomas King.
4) Washburn Rural taken down by big man:
The Junior Blues couldn’t stop Ottawa 6-foot-5 senior Kobe Johnson, who ripped Rural for 23 points on 9-11 shooting. Rural will need to figure out how to stop teams with height, but that shouldn’t be a problem in their second game at the Bobcat Invitational when they face Holton.
