This wasn’t the first meeting of the two teams, but it was their first meeting in district play and the two teams will have to square off again later in the season. The gym was packed and was Sold Out and a lot of students just hung outside of the building as they watched from their phones as other students streamed the game. According to the TABC (Texas Association of Basketball Coaches) weekly rankings of these two UIL-6A teams the Summer Creek Bulldogs are ranked 9th and the Atascocita Eagles are ranked 5th in the State of Texas. Here is our synopsis and prospect standouts of the game.
Summer Creek took command of the first quarter of the game and jumped on the Eagles rather quickly with big buckets from outside the perimeter. Both teams where playing physical basketball defensively and that physical play allowed the Eagles to crawl back into the game in the first quarter before it got to ugly early on. In the second quarter the Eagles kept that same defensive energy and forced four turnovers in a row to start the quarter. It seemed as if they gathered every rebound possible. The crowd went crazy after Kaleb Stewart took his man off the dribble to deliver an emphatic one handed jam going into the half as Atascocita held the Bulldogs to only 4 points and had the lead at halftime. The third quarter was a seesaw battle between the two teams as they were trading buckets and the fans were getting rowdy. It was in the fourth quarter when Summer Creek would pull away after a nasty put-back jam by Reyce Allen really changed the course of the game and then a couple minute later he throws down a two handed jam and shook the rim to capitalize the 8 point run that kept the Eagles at bay and eventually sealed the deal as Summer Creek came out as the victors of the game.

Dylen Scales 6’1 PG | Summer Creek HS | Sr. PHTX200
Its not always about the points that allows good players to impact the game. He has a great handle on the ball. He doesn’t get rattled at all very composed PG. He made the right passes and was feeding everyone on the court. He was aggressive defensively. He is a Top 5 unsigned Point Guard from the Greater Houston region. That would be very solid at a NAIA/D3 program. Finished with 10 points and dished out 6 assists in the game.
Dylan Miles 5’11 PG | Summer Creek HS | Sr. [UT-Dallas] PHTX200
This is not a prospect that you can leave open ever in the game. He is a player who will run you all over the floor to get a clean look. Shot the ball well from deep and played really solid off the ball. He was also tenacious on the defensive side of the ball as he cause problems for his opponent. The UT-Dallas commit also makes great reads when running the show and should have a big impact for the Comets as a freshman next season. Finished the game with 15 points and shot 3/5 from behind the arc with a handful of dimes and steals.
Reyce Allen 6’4 F | Summer Creek HS | Jr. as seen in the picture
This prospect was cleaning the glass all game long, grabbed every single defensive rebound, and had a couple of offensive rebounds as well. Solid hands in short corner and on the low block and finishes very well around the rim despite being contested and through contact. Had two dunks in the game and plays straight up on the defensive end of the ball as he challenges shots. He plays well in his coaches system and is a big factor for them and is the reason why they won the game. He has a big time motor on him and is a great teammate. Finished the game with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Javon Jackson 6’0 G | Summer Creek HS | Jr. PHTX100
Javon is a shot creator. He plays with great energy and is a score first guard. He draws a lot of attention from other teams and this game he got into foul trouble early on. Moves great without the ball in his hands. Gets to the rim and is a crafty finisher. He also knows how to draw a lot of fouls. Finished the game with 11 points.
Kaleb Stewart 6’2 PG | Atascocita HS | Jr. PHTX100
Stewart had his jump shot going for him throughout the entire game. He quickly changed the dynamic of how he was being guarded as he took his man off the dribble and threw down a one handed jam. He was able to get to spots on the floor to make really solid reads. He had a lot of quality paint touches as well to open up the floor for his teammates. Finished with 14 points in the game and shot 2/3 from behind the arc.
Cameron Morrison 6’4 F | Atascocita HS | Jr.
Cam is like a junk yard dog around the glass. He may not have brought down every rebound but he was boxing out and got physical down there. Played solid offensively on the low block as he was a recipient of many dump offs. Nice solid hands down low as well. Ran the floor really well. Will be interesting to watch his growth during the rest of the season and his Spring/Summer season as well. Finished with 8 points and brought down 6 rebounds in the game.
