POLL: Player of the Week (Week 1)
Our first week of the 2019-2020 regular season is in the books and we had SEVERAL very good nominations. The poll will be open until noon on Friday! Here are the nominees we whittled it down to:
Jamison Epps, Marion County – The Senior post player had 15 points and 14 rebounds in a loss to Bardstown then followed it up with 33 points and 14 rebounds in a win against Washington County.
Terrin Hamilton, Scott County – The Senior leader of the Cardinals had 32 points and 11 rebounds in a loss to Bullitt East and 29 points and 7 rebounds in a win over Bardstown.
Kaleb Glenn, Male – The Freshman forward had 25 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Waggener, 21 points and 16 rebounds in a win over Seneca and 6 points and 10 rebounds in 14 minutes due to foul trouble.
Alex Matthews, John Hardin – The Senior leader averaged 25 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 blocks per game in 3 wins for the Bulldogs. He was named Game MVP at the Marshall County HoopFest and scored his 1,000th career point.
Daeshawn White, Newport – White led Newport to 2 wins on the week. Against Bishop Brossart, White scored 19 and grabbed 7 rebounds and dished out 6 assists then put up 19 points,13 rebounds and 6 assists in a win over Dunbar.
Peyton Dial, Metcalfe County – Metcalfe is off to their first 2-0 start since 2010 thanks to Dial’s hot start. Against Warren East he scored 24 points and added 4 steals and 3 assists. Peyton followed that with 21 points, 4 assists and 2 steals in their win over Monroe County.
Xander Terry, Jackson City – Terry started his season with 40 points and 12 rebounds in a win over June Buchanan then put up 14 points and 3 rebounds in a loss to Breathitt County. Xander finished his week with a 17 point, 11 rebound game in a win over Walden.
Zek Montgomery, Fern Creek – The Junior wing scored 20 plus points in each game of the first week. 24 points in a win against Western, 21 points in a loss to Ballard and led the Tigers in a win against Waggener.
Tanner Walton, Lexington Christian – The Sophomore guard had 25 points and 5 rebounds in a win over Bluegrass Home School, 25 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Western Hills and 27 points and 5 rebounds in a win over Buckhorn.
Tredyn Thomas, Pendleton County – The Junior guard scored 22 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in a win over Williamstown, put up 23 points and 9 rebounds in a win over Calvary Christian, 18 points and 5 rebounds in a win over Ludlow and 28 points and 5 rebounds in a loss to Bracken County.
