Millbrook Showcase: What We Learned from Trinity Christian vs. Holly Springs

<p>Trinity Christian made easy work of Holly Springs in their Millbrook Showcase appearance with a 63-44 victory. Here's a look at what we learned.</p> <h5>Cam Oates controls the offense</h5> <p>2022 point guard <strong>Cam Oates</strong> continuously improves the more I've seen him. He was stellar in his approach and didn't force things at the lead guard spot. He finished with 13 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the floor and 3-of-4 shooting from 3-point land along with three rebounds and two assists and took home Player of the Game honors in the victory. He'll be a member of the 2022 class to track very closely in the state.</p> <h5>Marcus Boykin is a spark off the bench</h5> <p>2020 guard <strong>Marcus Boykin</strong> has embraced his role off the bench as an energy guy who's electric around the rim and can knock down 3-pointers. Boykin had a number of thunderous dunks and plays at the rim that continued to energize his squad and keep things from getting too close. He finished with 15 points and three rebounds on 2-of-3 shooting from behind the arc.</p> <h5>Todd Burt Jr. showed his potential</h5> <p>2020 forward <strong>Todd Burt Jr.</strong> was another contributing factor in Trinity Christian's win over Holly Springs. He showed off his ability to snag rebounds (5) and finished with 12 points as a solid paint presence and rim runner. He's a wiry forward with tons of athleticism at his disposal. He holds offers from Hampton, Southern Illinois and High Point.</p> <h5>Kaleb Scott shined despite the result</h5> <p>One bright spot for Holly Springs was 2020 forward <strong>Kaleb Scott. </strong>Scott finished with 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field to go along with six rebounds. When he got the ball in the paint, he was efficient and dominant around the rim and had a number of tough finishes in traffic. He'll be a solid addition on the Georgia State roster next season with his length and strong frame.</p> <h5>Shooting woes doomed Holly Springs</h5> <p>It wasn't the best shooting display for the Golden Hawks as they came out in the first half and shot 5-of-22 (22.7 percent) and never fully recovered from the shooting slump. As a team, they shot 2-of-11 (18.2 percent) from 3-point range and 13-of-44 (29.5 percent) from the field for the game and couldn't get out of their shooting slump after opening the first quarter by scoring just three points.</p>
