Many top notch 6A-2A teams plus standout preps and CAA schools. It was great seeing much variety from all across the state as far out as Yuma, AZ (Gila Ridge HS).
Here were some of the top unsigned juniors:
Isaiah Broady SF 6’6 Chandler
-Long and lean scoring wing. His jumper was working vs Salpointe and he got out on the break with some thunderous dunks. He also has a nice floater game and is starting to make others better and be more active on defense.
Kiran “Ky” Oliver SF 6’4 PHH Prep
-You may not find anyone in the state as athletic as Oliver. If you do, most can’t match his motor. He is thin but his quick twitch bounce and activity make it a problem for any opponent to score on. He slowed down every big talent he faced this weekend. He had multiple highlight reel dunks and block plus he rebounds well. He can make a catch 3 but he won’t create too much for himself as he will need to improve his handle in tight spaces. The energy forward even jumped center for the Prep team this weekend showing off his 40+ inch vertical.
Moussa Ngom PF 6’10 Bella Vista Prep
-Strong forward/post player is very physical and gets high above the rim to rebound the ball. The Senegal born player moves well in space and flies in the open court. He surprisingly makes 3’s at a good rate and is decent in the post but can improve his footwork.
Max Majerle SG 6’3 Arcadia
-Back after only being off 10 months from his ACL injury and looked good in only his second weekend. His 3pt shot looked cleaner and looked more comfortable from deep. He is still great at attacking the rim and he gets up way higher on the break above the rim. He also is a tough on-ball defender and a relentless rebounder. In the next year or so, I am assuming he will only get better.
Owen Shaw F 6’6 Arcadia
-Springy face-up forward that is good with the ball in his hands. He can face-up to the 3pt line and in plus rip through and score it. He is very good in the open court and attempts many dunks on the break. He is a good rebounder in his area and has a lot of energy.
Marko Milivojevic C 6’11 Dream City Christian
-The Canadian post player moves fluidly around the court. He rebounds the ball well and has a soft touch from the perimeter. He does need to get a little tougher when he comes into the game but he has legit size, length and skill. He is more of a finesse post then bruiser.
Darian Masi PF 6’7 Chandler
-Uber athletic power forward has great length and bounce. He rebounds really well in his area and will flush it down high above the rim. He is the typical rim runner and will block shots at a good rate. He can face-up up a little and score it inside. He will need to improve his post footwork and extend his range moving forward.
Kieran Carr CG 5’11 Arcadia
-A long and skinny scorer. He has a quick shooting release and gets hot quickly to rattle off 3’s. He is smooth with the ball and can make some plays for others as well. The sharp shooter was clutch all weekend long.
Patrick Herrera SG 6’1 Skyline
-A quick scoring guard who is a perfect scoring threat next to Dayton Harris. He is fast on the break to get some run outs but his best skill and much needed skill is his shooting. When he is letting it fly and hitting, the Coyotes are hard to beat. He takes pressure off of the rest of the team when he is on with his high arcing rainbow shot. He is a capable on-ball defender and good passer.
