Some of the top high school teams from the Greater Houston region are invited to play in this 24 team event. Here is my standouts from Day 3 of the event better known as championship Sunday.
Kasen Harrison 6’1 PG • 2020 • Beaumont United HS [Lamar] PHTX150
Kasen is currently ranked 58th in the State of Texas for his class. Shifty guard that controls the tempo. He was able to get where he wanted and whenever he wanted on the floor. He made all the right plays. Got a lot of paint touches and created for his teammates. Tough acrobatic finishes at the rim despite the size of the defender. He showed why he is committed to Lamar University.
Will Young 6’3 PG • 2021 • Alvin Shadow Creek HS PHTX75
Will is ranked 26th in the state of Texas for his class. Crafty with nice dribble combos to score in the mid-range. He ran the show for his team, he is modern point guard who looks to score first and then to create secondly. Has a nice frame with a long wingspan. He currently holds offers from Houston, IUPUI, Virginia Tech, and TCU.
Tom Hart 6’0 G • 2021 • Humble Atascocita HS PHTX75
He is ranked 38th in the State of Texas for his class. He is a big time shooter. He was light’n it up from deep. One game he shot 7/9 from behind the arc. He has good ball control with good ball speed. Has some bounce in his game as he tried to dunk on two defenders in the game. Moves really well without the ball in his hands. Currently holds an offer from Rice University
Marcus Williams 6’2 CG • 2020 • Dickinson HS [Northern Colorado] PHTX150
Marcus is currently ranked 20th in the State of Texas for his class. The Northern Colorado commit was out here cooking his opponent. great combo dribble moves to score off the bounce. Set up his teammates with some easy buckets also. Great catch and shoot display on the day. Big time motor and super vocal on the floor with everyone. He will be that missing piece that will help Dickinson High School to make a run towards the state title.
LJ Cryer 6’0 PG • 2020 • Katy Morton Ranch HS [Baylor] PHTX150
LJ is ranked 3rd in the State of Texas for his class. He is committed to Baylor University. You name it he did it on the court. Scored the ball extremely well on all three levels. Was knocking down some deep trey balls as he made a total of 9 trey balls in the game and finished with 44 points. He is bigger, faster, and more of an unconscious shooter than before.
Wesley Yates 6’1 G • 2023 • Beaumont United HS
The young blood from Beaumont United played as if he’s been on the varsity level before. Smooth game and he didn’t force anything. He let the game come to him. Knocked down some trey balls. He was able to take his man to the rim as well. Has good speed and nice court vision. He will definitely be a force for the Timberwolves this year.
