Prospect Spotlight: Martynas Sabaliauskas (2020)
Martynas Sabaliauskas, a class of 2020 forward from St. James, was one of the best upperclassmen we saw at the recent Maryland Top-250 Expo. This does not come as a surprise given his accolades. Sabaliauskas, a sharpshooting 6-foot-7 forward, is considered one of the best players on his high school team.
Sabaliauskas had some big games last year. He once dropped 17 points in the first quarter on the road against conference foe St. Andrew’s.
“I can play any position the coach asks me to,” Sabaliauskas told Prep Hoops. “I can dribble the ball up the court if he wants to, and I can knock down threes. I”m a shooter.”

When he’s not scoring, Sabaliauskas finds other ways to impact the game. This includes talking, encouraging his teammates, and hustling on defense.
Given his blend of size and skill to go along with a strong work ethic and dead-eye shooting ability, it comes as a surprise that more scholarship-level college programs aren’t actively pursuing Sabaliauskas. This should change in the very near future as he appears to be in line for yet another ultra-productive season.
Martynas Sabaliauskas is currently ranked by Prep Hoops as a top-100 prospect in his class. To view the full ranking of Maryland and DC’s 2020 class, click here.
