Nick Reid
1.) Nick Reid, Central City (32.5 points per game)
The leading returning scorer in the state, regardless of class, the 6-6 wing showed just how explosive he can be with a 76-point outing last year against East Buchanan, a total that tied for second all-time in single-game scoring.
2.) JD Stout, Keota (28.4 points per game)
A dynamic scoring threat for the Eagles, Stout is a strong, physical guard who shot 45% from behind the arc last year. With unlimited range and the ability to shoot off the catch and the bounce, he’s a threat to pull up from anywhere on the court.
Trey Shearer
3.) Trey Shearer, Montezuma (22.4 points per game)
Coming off a fantastic sophomore season, Shearer might be the best player in 1A. A shifty guard with tight handles and a silky smooth jumper, he’ll help pace an explosive Braves offense.
4.) Brennan Sefrit, Bedford (21.2 points per game)
A 5-10 senior guard, Sefrit ranked second in the state last year in made 3-pointers with 92, knocking them down at a 40.4% clip.
5.) John Zwack, Waterloo Christian (20.7 points per game)
Waterloo Christian won just one game last year, but Zwack did his fair share of scoring, accounting for 47.5% of the Regents points last season.
t6.) Jackson Louscher, South O’Brien (20.5 points per game)
A 6-2 senior forward for one of 1A’s best teams, Louscher led the Wolverines in scoring, rebounding and assists last year, showcasing himself as one of 1A’s top all-around threats.
Zack Lasek
t6.) Zack Lasek, Highland (20.5 points per game)
Also a standout football player, Lasek, a 6-8 forward, is an athletic big man with the ability to stretch out to the arc, as evidenced by his 43.6% shooting from deep last year. One of the most talented players in the class, and a matchup nightmare at this level.
t6.) Parker Rochford, Edgewood-Colesburg (20.5 points per game)
A great scorer for the Vikings, Rochford’s numbers could explode if his shooting (28.4 3P% last year) gets back to his freshman level, when he shot 48.9% from behind the arc.
9.) Ethan Sahr, North Cedar (19.7 points per game)
A volume scorer, Sahr could see his numbers skyrocket like Rochford if his efficiency improves (37-31-73 shooting splits last year). His 63 made 3s rank 8th among 1A returnees.
10.) Ethan Schmidt, Clarksville (18.9 points per game)
An undersized 6-2 power forward, Schmidt is incredibly efficient, shooting 66.8% from the floor last year, while also leading the Indians in rebounding, steals and blocks.
