Another senior class is up in Ohio this year. After a 2019 exited, the 2020 class is up. Here I take a look at the some seniors who played well in this event!
Seniors:
Lee Sims (5’8” / PG 2020 / Northland): Northland has done a good job of turning out some pretty good point guards over the years. Lee Sims was solid on Saturday. The senior scored from all over, simply to quick for the defender. The lead guard finished inside off the dribble drive, often a blow by. Shifty ball handler that keeps on he defender off balance, and didn’t turn it over much. Sims scored from just about everywhere, including a stop-and-pop that was money. We will be watching Sims this winter at Northland, that will need to replace some production.
Edward Wright (6’0” / G 2020 / Elyria Catholic): Wright is another new face that I had yet seen. The senior impressed with his defensive instincts, as he was always active on defense, playing the passing lane. Wright is solid in transition where he is finished at the rim, through the defender if needed. Wright was a solid two-way option for his team.
Jadakis Mack (6’4” / WG 2020 / Lima Senior): Probably the MVP of this showcase in my opinion would be Mack. He was clearly the best player on the court multiple times. Mack is active on both ends and doesn’t stop working. You may have seen my Tweet saying he attacks the rim like he’s mad at it, that is an understatement. When the senior is on a mission to score, that’s exactly what he does. Handles the ball, scores through contact and makes his team better. Mack should be a D2 priority for coaches at this point. Lima Senior has big plans this winter, Jadakis will be a big part of that.
Zachary Szul (6’4” / WG 2020 / Anthony Wayne): Szul was a hustling machine on Saturday. He ran around grabbing misses and competing. The senior played with great energy. Also, caused problems on defense with his length. Finished strong at the rim, in a limited number of dribbles. Szul has a long stride, that didn’t take much to get to the rim and put him in prime position. Hit mid range leaders, the fallaway and rolled off screens. Complete guard package.
Korey Robinson (6’0” / G 2020 / Thomas Worthington): Robinson got in some good run at the high school he attends Saturday. On the offensive end the senior showed good burst to the hoop, getting his defender off-balance with a quick pivot. The Cardinal was able to finish rather well around the hoop. Hustled well, stayed with his man and competed in the open gym environment.
