5 Things We Learned in September

5 Things We Learned in September

With September coming to a close it only means one thing... official practices are around the corner. Athletes have been competing in fall leagues and have gone through workouts, but the fun is about to begin. Here are 5 things we learned in September:

1. 2020 class has 20 D1 prospects- Thats not a rough estimate. Right now, I would say 20 prospects have the chance to play D1. That does not mean HM. I think the bulk of this group of 20 will be major players at the LM-MM level. Guys like Tommy Murr, Shannon Grant, Giancarlo Valdez, Trey Bonham, Jamel King, Zondrick Garrett, and more will have solid 4 year careers.

2. Transferring doesn't just happen in college- High school athletes are seeing both the benefits and challenges of transferring to new schools. Athletes transfer for different reasons. Some athletes transfer to play at better programs or to gain more exposure. Biggest challenge is fitting that school's program. Two notable transfers from Alabama: Mark Sears and Antwan Burnett.

3. Multi sport prospects- Several high profile athletes are gaining offers and interest in multiple sports. There are huge benefits to playing multiple sports, but to develop as a collegiate prospect in multiple sports is very impressive. Notable Prospects: Trinity Bell, GaQuincy McKinstry, Riley Leonard, and Reginald Perry.

4. The 2022 class is talented- You knew about the talent at the top of the class, but this class is going to be special. Guys in and around the top 15 are already getting college coaches to come visit and see them. I see this class shaping out a lot like the 2020 class.

5. There will be late D1 bloomers- You can clearly see the talent the 2020 class has. I really believe that you will see some kids pick up late D1 interest. Now, from a student athlete perspective they will be thrilled to finally have D1 interest. Athletes, don't go to the biggest school interested in you. Go where you fit as a student, as an athlete, and will have the best opportunity to grow.
