Prep Hoops takes a look at several of the state’s top performers throughout the spring and summer.
22-Hunter Anderson, 6’5, F, 2020, Cair Paravel Latin, Freedom Hoops
Anderson is a strong inside-out forward who knows how to use his frame, strength and overall hustle to get open looks and get on the board. He uses head fakes well and is good at creating space around the left side of the glass. Anderson can connect with his outside shooting stroke but also likes to put the ball on the floor and looked to get close for high percentage shots.
21-Wyatt Carmichael, 6’5, 2020, F, Haven, Grind Elite 17U
A consummate glue-guy type player, Carmichael brought activity, hustle and a willingness to do a little bit of everything for the Kansas Grind Elite this summer. He is very good around the basket and has good post moves that give him looks or time to get his shots off.
16-Max Defever, 6’4, G/F, 2020, Blue Valley Southwest, KC Silver
A mobile player who picks up his man up top or will even ride him full court if his coach lets him. He plays hard and likes to plays fast. He gets a body in the middle and can defend wings and guards at times when he switches out. He finishes plays underneath as well.
33-Jerome Goosen, 6’4, G/F, 2020, Andover Central, NLHA Gaddis
Goosen impressed this summer with NLHA Gaddis with his outside shooting and all-around play. He is a long, rangy defender who can defend in the paint, block shots and is capable of guarding multiple positions. At the offensive end, he has the ability to finish around the basket and appears more comfortable on the perimeter handling the ball and shooting from the outside.
31 — Austin Murrow, 6’5, G/F, 2020, Blue Valley SW, MoKan 2020
Murrow has terrific size and length and a well-rounded offensive skill set with a lot of versatility. He can knock down pull-up jumpers with a smooth looking mid-range game, can handle the ball on the perimeter and is capable of getting in the passing lanes defensively and picking off errant passes. He put together a strong offseason running with MoKan 2020.
