What have you focused on primarily with developing your game over the Summer?
“This Summer has been extremely busy between high school basketball, football, and finishing up the AAU season in July. The main thing I’ve focused on is just getting up as many shots in the gym as possible, improving my agility and defense, along with sharpening up my ball handling skills which I think I’ve improved on most this summer.”
What was some of the highlights of your summer? Any specific game or tournament that stands out?
“The game that sticks out most in my mind from this summer was the quarterfinals of Brawl For The Ball where our STORM NY2LA team took down the STORM UA RISE team when we were down to only 6 guys playing.”
How has this offseason differed from previous off-seasons? Have you noticed a different level of focus with it being your Senior year?
“This summer I’ve had a lot more high school basketball than usual with bringing in Coach Chana as the new head coach we had a very busy June trying to learn his system. As far as training, when you bring in a gym rat like Coach Chana and Coach Ford they are always ready to get a workout in with you up at the school. Between going to the gym with them or my dad I’ve been doing as much as I can to prepare for my senior season.”
What are some of your goals for yourself and your team coming into 2019?
“With our talent, coaching staff, and style of play I think our ceiling is incredibly high. As far as goals go I want to win conference this year after falling short last year, repeat as Class A district champs, and make a deeper run in the playoffs than we did last year losing to Hudsonville in the regional semi-final.”
Turning to recruiting, what schools have been in contact with you the most?
“Aquinas and Kalamazoo College have been the schools in contact with me most. Lately I’ve been in contact with a lot of NAIA’s and D3’s that have reached out and have scheduled visits to.”
What are you looking for in a program/school when making the decision of where you will play in college?
“I just want to play at the highest level I can in college basketball and find a school where I can find playing time, a good culture to win and win consistently, and of course somewhere that’s going to offer me a great education and set me up with a good degree.”
