Prospect Spotlight: Bryce Johnson (2020)

A rising player in the 2020 class, Lawrence wing Bryce Johnson turned heads this offseason with his length, athleticism and all-around skill set. At 6’3, Johnson is a long, rangy athlete who can play both guard, forward, or on the wing and has a well-rounded, versatile skill set. He has a nice pull-up jumper off the bounce, can shoot from outside and finishes well at the rim. He has spent the offseason running with Primetime Ballerz, a squad made up mostly from players from the Lawrence area. “It has been good, we moved the ball well, and play high pace/IQ basketball, it prepares me for school ball by getting me in shape, and also playing with a few of my school ball teammates all year round,” he says. “ “I've worked on my outside range, and my decision making, also being the best teammate I can be, on and off the court.” Johnson says Lawrence is primed to compete for a Class 6A state championship this season as the programs features depth, talent and plenty of experience. “We are really well rounded, and we've been playing with each other for a long time, so once we get it rolling, and keep good chemistry,” Johnson said. “I feel like we could be the team to beat.” Johnson says the biggest influence on his basketball career to date has been Primetime coach Willie Dotson III, “I’ve been with him playing basketball since fifth grade, and he's also my neighbor, and has really helped me grow as a player, and as a man,” Johnson says. A fan of Kevin Durant and Paul George, Johnson says he has heard from a handful of college programs but has not yet drawn an offer. “ I just have to be patient, and stay consistent,” he says. “I feel like any school that gives me an opportunity will benefit from me, and I could help contribute to their program.”
