When you watch Arnardo Camacho play, within a few possessions he will break down a defender, wait for the help to arrive, and make a pass that illustrates his tremendous feel for the game. When you talk to the long-limbed 6-foot-3 Dominican guard prospect from New York and he tells you who he models his game after, it all begins to make sense.
“I watch Jason Kidd a lot. And most of the time it’s Kyrie Irving.”
Camacho is entering his second year at National Christian Academy, and is becoming used to consistently playing at a high-level. He is an impact player defensively with his length and ability to rebound from his position. It’s Camacho’s inclination to share the ball that makes him special.
“I think the most underrated part of my game is being a point guard,” he stated. “I have to develop a couple things, but I’m prepared to be a point guard for this team.”
With schools such as Delaware State, Morgan State, and Howard showing interest, its only a matter of time before Camacho lands his first offer. What can he bring to a college program?
“I can bring a lot of things. I talk all the time on defense and share the ball with the team as a leader.”
Camacho will be running with the NY Gauchos on the Adidas Gauntlet this month for coaches who are interested in checking him out.
