Payton Sandfort picked up guards from Iowa, Utah, Drake, Air Force and MinnesotaPayton Sandfort (Waukee) was the big winner in June, the Waukee rising junior picked up offers from Iowa, Utah, Minnesota, Drake and Air Force during the last week of the month. Ames’ superstar point guard sustained an ACL tear at the Border Battle in Council Bluffs
Lipsey Injury
Some major news came out of the Border Battle in Council Bluffs at the end of the month. The best player in Iowa’s Class 2022, Ames’ Tamin Lipsey, needed to be helped off the court after suffering an apparent leg injury in Ames’ second-to-last game. It was reported later in the week by the Ames Tribune that Lipsey had sustained a torn ACL, and will be sidelined indefinitely . He told the Tribune the doctors think recovery time will be 6-9 months from the time of his surgery. That means he’ll definitely miss at least part of his sophomore season, and could sit out the whole season. Either way, it’s a massive blow for Ames, a team that was a top-10 caliber squad with him in the lineup.
