The class of 2021 is one that has been showing it’s hand early. Like with our SF group, we have quite a bit of top-end talent in our 2-guards, as well. Pierce Thomas leads this set off because of his size, skill, and elite upside. But we have seen some more competition forming just behind him.
Blake Wesley has really stepped up his game over the last year and looks primed for a breakout soon. Michael Eley continues his upward trajectory along with Jayden Taylor and Colson Montgomery. This, however, is where things get interesting.
Just behind that group of 5, you have guys like Lincoln Hale and Jake Heidbreder, both of which picked up their first offers from Indiana State. That is a huge start for them. Khamani Smith has been extremely impressive and might be one of the guys that makes the biggest jump in the next 6 months. You also have potential DI prospects in guys like Trevor Taylor, Jaden Thomas, Zane Burke, Connor Hickman, and Vincent Brady among others. Have double-digit potential DI prospects in any one position is quite good.
Overall, this is a huge group for all levels as their are many starter level talents for each college level in this position. And if some of those guys don’t end up at DI, that only makes DII and NAIA’s stronger. This is the class and the position that will probably help college programs the most.
