As summer ball is now in full swing, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at some of the state’s top players on the rise in a variety of positions.
Below are some of the state’s players to keep your eyes on in the 2020 class
Jace Mackley, 5’11, G, 2020, Weskan
a guard who creates opportunities for himself and others around him. He is a solid pastor and can feed the ball to teammates on the wing or inside on the post or high post. He is a scorer who can find his shot. He runs the floor well and looks to find easy baskets where he can weather that’s near the basket or around the arc.
Clayton Hendersonm 6’1, G/F, 2020, Cedar Vale/Dexter
He looks to contribute immediately on the floor and is a good team player who keeps the ball away from his opponents and makes good passes and plays. He can shoot some and finds ways to get touches. He also rebounds a little and can handle it some for himself and help bring the ball up the floor if he needs to. He plays big inside and uses his athleticism to his advantage.
Sage Meyer, 6’2, G, 2020, Hiawatha
A solid 3-point shooter who has a great shot and enough confidence to shoot from several feet behind the line. he can find his rhythm and connect from distance multiple possessions in a row. He has solid ball handling skills and is a confident player around the floor. He has good height and competes on the defensive end of the floor as well.
Damian Ramirez, 6’2, G/F, 2020, Syracuse
A solid to a player who defends well and can get on the board for himself. He looks to rebound and is comfortable in high-pressure situations. He is physical and aggressive when he needs to be and shows strength and toughness. He is smart and knows how to put himself in positions he can maximize.
Grant Gillum, 6’0, G/F, 2020, Meade
A player who scores and rebounds and has good speed. He defends several positions including the guards and small forward at times. He runs well and can catch on the move and finish in transition or get to the free-throw line.
