As summer ball is now in full swing, Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at some of the state’s top players on the rise in a variety of positions.
Below are some of the state’s players to keep your eyes on in the 2021 class
Cole Wheeler, 6’3, G, 2021, Lawrence Free State
Wheeler is an up-and-coming player for free state who can do a little bit of everything on the floor. He has good height and is smart at protecting the ball. He can like things up from distance and can drive inside and get a shot off and even get to the free-throw line. Definitely a player to keep your eyes on this summer and next season.
Blake Beashore, 5’10, G, 2021, Piper
A smart guard who can connect from distance. He’s a shorter shooting guard but is very confident in his game and can bring the ball up the floor if you needs to. He has a nice jump shot and doesn’t always live through his 3-point shooting. he can mix things up inside and is also a good passer and a strong defender.
Anthony Barberena, 6’3, 2021, Lawrence Free State
a nice player with good-sized who hustles on the floor. He can shoot around the basket and can knock down open shots from distance when he has a clean look. He’s also a good rebounder and defensive player who can switch off and play inside when asked.
Bryan Murell, 5’7, G, 2021, Kauffman, Pac Gold
Murell is usually one of the fastest kids on the floor. He has great athleticism and can run and jump well for his size. He’s a knockdown shooter at times and has very good vision and is good at getting the ball inside or getting it to a teammate who has the hot hand. He’s also a solid defensive player who stays with his man and doesn’t let him beat him to the hoop.
Jami Tyson, G, 2021, Piper, Pac Gold
An all-around player with great athleticism and bounce. He is great at drawing contact when he goes to the basket and can play around the rim in transition. He has a nice feel to his game and is observant. Tyson also plays lockdown defense to the ball.
