@PrepHoopsTN Summer Combine: Shooting Sizzlers
CLEVELAND, TN-
The @PrepHoopsTN Combine tour moved to Cleveland High School on Saturday and gave us a good look at many of East Tennessee’s most talented players. Grant Hurst (pictured above) buried countless pull-up jumpers. He was the best of a good group. Here are Saturday’s best!
@PrepHoopsTN Summer Combine – Top 8 Shooters
Grant Hurst Cleveland
Grant put up so many shots that fell through the center of the rim. He usually was the best shooter on the day and projects as the best shooter in 5 years.
The work ethic, boasted by Reggie Tucker and witnessed Friday night…hours before the 5-hour combine, is special. Likes and mentions don’t drive Hurst. Made baskets do.
Sam Belau Walker Valley
Beautiful stroke. Lefty with promise. Belau devotes himself to the game and stays in the gym. Sam consistently knocks down his looks. He is not streaky at all. The speed of his release appears to be the same every time. Very consistent in form and result.
Isaiah Smith Farragut
Really good stroke. Isaiah works out with Grant Hurst a lot and they both focus hard on the details. Wonderful form and loves the corners…don’t tell anyone his spot.
Kevin Halfacre Brainerd
Slick, wiggly combo guard. Kevin scores in bunches and made most of his shots with a man guarding closely.
Davis Sallee University School Jackson
Davis Sallee is a little stiff, standing erect with his thin, athletic build. He knocked down quite a few shots both in the five versus five action and the extensive drills. Sallee is a catch-and-shoot guy with small college potential.
Morrell Schramm
Wonderful off the dribble. Morrell is a volume scorer at the high school level. Look for him to have a big season as a senior.
Tayvon Barber Walker Valley
Small in stature, enormously effective as a shooter. Tayvon was wonderful off the curl in the “Reggie Miller Drill.” Left-handed.
Meechie Bowens Howard
Explosive and energetic. Meechie Bowens knocked down some wonderful three-pointers. He told me he hit 12 three-pointers in a single game last winter. After watching his combine performance it doesn’t surprise. Great elevation on the shot too.
Watch the Reggie Miller Drill.
