DC Live Superlatives
WASHINGTON, DC — This weekend was an eventful one at DC Live, where local teams from the city were given the opportunity to showcase their talent in front of a bevy of college coaches. Now that the event is over, its time to take a look back at what we saw at Maret. Below is a breakdown of six superlative winners.
BEST SHOOTER | Michael Katsock Michael Katsock 6'5" | SF St. Albans | 2020 State MD | ST. ALBANS ’20
As noted on Saturday morning, Michael Katsock Michael Katsock 6'5" | SF St. Albans | 2020 State MD caught fire for St. Albans. At 6-foot-5, he has the size to shoot over top of most defenders, a quick release, and impressive range.
BEST BALL-HANDLER | Ronald Grose Ronald Grose 5'7" | PG McKinley Tech | 2020 State MD | MCKINLEY TECH ’20
While there were several talented ball-handlers on display this weekend, Ronald Grose Ronald Grose 5'7" | PG McKinley Tech | 2020 State MD wins superlative because of his usage rate at McKinley Tech. Grose has by far the best handle on his team and assumed perhaps the most responsibility of any other point guard at this event.
BEST PASSER | KADEN METHENY | UNIVERSITY (WV) ’20
Kaden Metheny‘s skill-set is so diverse that he was considered for both of the categories prior to this one, but it was his passing that stood out most. Metheny can thread the needle with a full-court bullet-pass in transition or a pocket pass out of a pick-and-roll in half court.

You can’t teach length, and Tegra Izay Tegra Izay 6'11" | C Archbishop Carroll | 2020 State MD has plenty of it. His physical play in the paint and ability to challenge shots without fouling plays a big part in him winning this award.
BEST TWO-WAY PLAYER | Saveon Jackson Saveon Jackson 6'0" | CG KIPP | 2021 State MD | KIPP ’21
Saveon Jackson Saveon Jackson 6'0" | CG KIPP | 2021 State MD certainly got it done on both ends of the court and most importantly won every game this weekend. On a team with limited size, Jackson plays big, guards several positions, and is a go-to-guy offensively.
BEST WING DEFENDER | Cory Barnes Jr. Cory Barnes Jr. 6'2" | CG Archbishop Carroll | 2020 State MD | ARCHBISHOP CARROLL ’20
If we had to pick local prospect to guard any wing player in the country, it would be Cory Barnes Jr. Cory Barnes Jr. 6'2" | CG Archbishop Carroll | 2020 State MD He is built like a tank, takes incredible pride in his defense, plays with an unrelenting motor and contagious energy.
