Prospect Spotlight: Chris Smith (2020)
Chris Smith, a class of 2020 post prospect playing for DC Thunder, was an impact transfer into Pallotti this past high school season. At 6-foot-7, 230 pounds, Smith is a bruising big man who makes his presence felt in the paint on both ends of the court.
“I stay in the post, but I can play in the high post and shoot from the corner,” Smith said of his overall game. “I’m real strong so I can move pretty much anybody. I grab all the rebounds. I just play my role.”
One thing that stood out about Smith while on the Adidas Gauntlet is his playmaking ability. Smith is adept at finding teammates with a quick outlet after securing a rebound or from the low or high post in half-court offense.
“Every time I get double teamed, and when the defense collapses on me I always look for the other man,” he stated.
No schools have reached out to Smith yet, but that should change soon. Two areas of improvement that he has cited are free throws and finishing above the rim.
What can Smith add to a college program in the near future?
“Rebounds, energy, and a great teammate who displays great sportsmanship.”
Chris Smith is currently ranked by Prep Hoops as a top-100 prospect in his class. To view the full ranking of Maryland and DC’s 2020 class, click here.
